I don't understand why PIA is sitting quietly. It should re-launch 'PIA Cargo' with a couple of Airbus A310-300 cargo aircraft to re-capture large chunk of Pakistan's cargo export/import market.

PIA should consider converting two of its own A310-300 passenger aircraft into cargo aircraft to re-start cargo flights.

'Sitting quietly' is what PIA, unfortunately, seems to do best - whilst all around them (i.e. Gulf States carriers) take full advantage of commercial opportunities.

Like EK's monopoly on other destinations in Pakistan, i can see here the same strategy will be adopted. Such cargo operation was suppose to be initiated by PIA itself being national carrier of Pakistan but a foreign airline did that with full advantage.

I am unable to understand that why the think tank of PIA is not considering the oppurtunities to raise the revenue for the corporate???

BTW, why mentioned that the cargo will be offloaded at Sharjah and why not Dubai? Is the emirates having cargo section based at Sharjah or contract between both parties is to drop cargo at Sharjah for further distribution around the world?

Awesome news. It was speculated that Emirates were planning to use Sialkot as another cargo hub. Should bring good business to the people of sialkot. I gues passenger flights may even be a possibility?

Brilliant! Pakistani Mangoes picked less than 48 hours ago coming soon to Houston, San Fran and New York (USDA permitting of course)

This is because PIA is too damn lazy to get off its backside and do something about it. I think the term 'Pakistans Incompetent Airline' would suit PIA better. They could easily convert or pick up 2 A310 to use as freighters or even operate routes such as KHI-Shanghai-LAX which would generate fantastic cargo revenue, but will they even bother to consider such possibilities and opportunities? Of course not.

Numerous big and small airlines are operating freighter aircraft from Pakistan's major airports including Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and now Sialkot.

PIA should take steps to re-start 'PIA Cargo'.

PIA should brand their cargo service 'CARGOPAK', has a good resonance methinks!

Agreed - the economy can do so much better if there were proper airlines to meet the growing industry needs.

Very good news indeed for Sialkot's export industry. It’ll give them allot of benefit in long run.
But as for PIA its different story altogether. While PIA management and employees argue about sacking of few employees and bringing retired planes back into service a foreign airline saw the business opportunity and jumped on it.
I guess PIA is too busy in union elections. It’s exactly what Moin said ''Pakistan’s Incompetent Airline''.
