Re: Another new livery by PIA?
Hello ats_patrol
Maybe the urdu PIA should be on the engines rather then the English PIA.
PIA on the tail the cut off part looks like a mistake.
The font on the tail and the font on the fuselage is different, does not look good.
Basically a bit dry, nothing exciting.

Re: Another new livery by PIA?
One things needs to be borne in mind. PIA is a cash strapped airline surviving on loans and bailouts. All these fancy liveries will be very very expensive to professionally paint and maintain and PIA is not exactly known for stripping planes right down to bare metal and repainting them, the VN 777's being an example. This will just add more weight to the aircraft. What PIA needs is a minimalist livery which is easy to paint and maintain and alot of these examples will require special decals to be made which will be even more expensive. Minimalism is the way to go.

Re: Another new livery by PIA?
This was my submission a few days back. Nothing spectacular but it only uses 2 colours and should be easy enough to paint. It also brings back PIA's original brand id.

Could be an improvementAmaad Lone wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2017 6:01 pm Maybe the urdu PIA should be on the engines rather then the English PIA.
Actually a lot of airlines these days have cut off logo on the tail, and it looks nice when you get symmetry looking from the rear end of the tail
PIA had different fonts in the past, and it looked goodAmaad Lone wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2017 6:01 pm The font on the tail and the font on the fuselage is different, does not look good.

Exactly, PIA is too poor to have a fancy colorful livery, they should have a minimal livery but which co-relates to their historic brand. Dry livery is the way to goMoin wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2017 8:42 pm One things needs to be borne in mind. PIA is a cash strapped airline surviving on loans and bailouts. Re: Another new livery by PIA?
Looks like PIA received enough proposals by announcing this nationwide livery design competition.
Some designs are smart enough but likewise, some designs are impractical especially those in which textures & shades used to enhance appearance while neglecting aircraft exterior design like curvatures, fuselage sections, windows, markings etc.
Here are a few examples of such designs;

This is one of most interesting in its graphical appearance; but remains impractical due to multi color shades.

Vinyl stickers could be employed for this

Sticker maybe used for short term only.Vinyl stickers could be employed for this
Basically, color shades doesn't remain original for long time due to weather affects, even if painted.

Re: Another new livery by PIA?
Yes stickers would have to be replaced frequently in order to keep the livery looking right.
P.S someone should compile a list of paintable designs from the entries

Re: Another new livery by PIA?
These 3 are my personal favorites ( In no particular order)
I love how this one this one looks classy, yet modern
This one reminds me of the 80s and 60s at the same time
I like it's approach on the design of the flag tail
And my design
(NO COMMENT)

Re: Another new livery by PIA?
Design below is good one but in my opinion font and its size should be reviewed because airlines always prefer solid & dark colored bold & large size fonts, for good appearance from a long distance.
A sans serif type font may be selected as these fonts provide better readability and a smooth appearance. PIA always used such type of fonts before years 2000. World airlines like Qatar, Lufthansa, United, Air Canada, Delta, Qantas, American, Air India, Beiman Bangladesh, SiriLankan Airlines even all airlines in Pakistan other than PIA using sans serif type fonts in their logos and liveries.
Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) also restrict all airlines in Pakistan to use a "Sans Serif" type font to write aircraft registration(s) on the fuselage.
If you are not familiar with "Serif" and "Sans Serif" type fonts, check image below;
