Ceremony Held to Celebrate 75 Years (1942-2017) of PAF No. 6 Squadron

According to news sources, a ceremony was held today at PAF Base Nur Khan, Chaklala, to celebrate seventy-five years (1942-2017) of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) No. 6 "Antelopes" Squadron. Chief of Air Staff of the PAF Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman was the Chief Guest at the ceremony.

Guests attending the ceremony included PAF war heroes, former chiefs and serving & retired officers. A documentary about glorious history of the squadron was shown during the ceremony. A commemorative Pakistan postage stamp celebrating 75 years of the squadron was also unveiled by ACM Aman.

No. 6 Squadron played prominent role in successful Operation Zarb-e-Azb. The squadron equipped with Lockheed C-130 Hercules transport aircraft is based at PAF Base Nur Khan, Chaklala.

It is the oldest squadron in PAF and was formed in 1942 in Trichinopoly, Tamil Nadu, India.

Nur Khan was base commander of PAF Base Chaklala in late 1940s and the airbase was named as PAF Base Nur Khan on October 10, 2012.
