PIA Boeing 777 (AP-BMG) Without Engine at Karachi Airport

Post by Abbas Ali »

In photo on following link, a recent photo apparently shows PIA Boeing 777-200ER registration AP-BMG without engine number two parked at Karachi Airport. Maybe AP-BMG engine undergoing maintenance?

September 24, 2017, photo on following link apparently shows PIA Boeing 777-200ER registration AP-BHX using portion of AP-BMG engine number two cowling in painted in grey colour.

I hope AP-BMG is not temporarily grounded to be used as spares source for her sister ships in PIA fleet.

In year 2013, PIA Boeing 777-300ER registration AP-BHW was seen grounded without engines for long duration at Karachi Airport.

Today, Public Accounts Committee (PAC) was informed that a PIA Boeing 777 is grounded due to unavailability of engine/engine parts.

The Boeing 777 is expected to return to service by the end of November. Maybe it's AP-BMG?

The PAC was also informed that a PIA Airbus A320 is grounded due to unavailability of both engines. The A320 will return to service by December 15 after getting one engine on November 20 and another engine on December 7. Maybe AP-BLT or AP-BLZ?

These two aircraft are surely AP-BMG (B777-2Q8ER) & AP-BLT (A320-214), awaiting engine(s) and other spares. Most probably, both aircraft will return to service as of mentioned dates, along with updated livery.

Both are in retro livery. Do you mean repainted on the areas where paint was due to air friction?

Both aircrafts will have new livery that PIA introduced with induction of AP-BMS, its all white fuselage with same tail and PIA titles under the belly.

I guess both aircraft i.e. AP-BMG and AP-BLT will also get cabin refurbished and obviously with refurbished cabin PIA would like these aircraft to wear airline's current livery like refurbished AP-BGZ for the sake of standardisation.

Anyway, in my opinion only one A320 in retro livery was enough instead of four aircraft painted by PIA - none of them painted correctly in 1960s livery.

I also agree with that. Only one A320 is enough to represent 1960's livery, and that maybe AP-BLA.

Removing 1960's livery from two A320 and one B777 is good enough decision to standardize livery on all PIA fleet. After that, there should be a 10 years ban on livery change.

Completely agree. Usually airlines do not change livery/corporate identity for ten years.

In PIA, in recent years the aircraft livery is getting changed/modified nearly with every change in airline's management.

Liveries worn by PIA aircraft since 2004.

I recently went to Karachi, I saw AP-BMG parked inside the hangers.
