Two P 51 Mustangs participating in the flying display at EAA AirVenture, Oshkosh, were involved in a collision while landing on Runway 36L. EAA spokesman Dick Knapinski said the P 51 of Gerald Beck, 58, of Wahpeton, ND, hit the P 51 of of Casey Odegaard, 24, of Kindred, N.D., from behind before flipping over to the right, crashing and catching fire.
Beck was killed while Odegard suffered minor injuries.
