Raza Ali, Can you post a shot taken by your H-50 as well? I've got the same camera and need to make the comparison, I'll post one shot from my camera as well.

Basically I bought DSC-H50 based on its ultra zoom factor of 15X, otherwise I would have opted for much cheaper Canon SX100 IS, which has a 10X Zoom. I have been mostly testing my DSC-H50 at extreme zooms. Moon capturing is an ideal scenario for testing zoom abilities. Here is a shot taken by DSC-H50. I have found out that Manual Control of Exposure gives you the best results in DSC-H50. Got lessons from net after fiddling with Aperture Priority mode, which is my favourite mode for snaps. I switched to Manual for this picture. Like for this shot, I used a f4.5, Shutter Speed of 1/320, ISO 80 at full 15X Zoom. Didnt used any tripod. This was purely a handheld shot. No editing done, though sharpening can be increased by using the Adobe Photoshop CS3 unsharp mask in the filters menu

Raza_Ali wrote:Hi Oxon,

Do keep posting the pictures of London Heathrow Airport. I have a special Nostalgia attached to this airport, and your pictures remind me of the yester years. One of my past time, whenever I used to be in London was to take a Tube to Hatton Cross Station and watch landing planes one after the other from that end, though I myself never had the courage to take a photograph or perhaps I was too lazy for this.

Do keep posting, and keep it up. By the way, you regular photograph posting has compelled me to delve into Digital Photography ( I am learning) and I just got 2 Digital Cameras, One is a Sony Cybershot DSC-H50 Ultrazoom 9.1 MP Camera and a KODAK 12 MP 5x Opt Point and Shoot Pocket Camera.

Looks good camera to me ... I used to have many old SLR and now a days due to size I tend to go for small size digi ones. How does your camera behave towards close up i-e flowers etc ??

Hi Oxon

The Macro Mode of the camera is also excellent. It allows you to take shots as close as 1 cm. But best method for Sony is to Zoom into your flower, use a bigger aperture to give you Shallow field of depth, as the flower will stand out from the background. Details and sharpness are amazing. I dont have a close up of a flower at the moment otherwise I would have posted

I would love to have a camera like this .... but as you have noticed that my requirment for digi camera is small size ... pocket size ... which I can take it " every where " ... I was just about to buy Canon G 10 but canon introduced Canon A 2100 .. which will be available in march on ward in the UK , price around £200. Its small pocket size .......... !!!
