This Mil Mi-24 gunship/attack helicopter and low-capacity troop transport is a new addition at Pakistan Army Museum in Lahore. It's without serial number and operator's markings. Probably an ex-Afghan or Soviet machine that landed in Pakistan during Soviet-Afghan War (1979-1989).

This Mil Mi-24 gunship/attack helicopter and low-capacity troop transport is a new addition at Pakistan Army Museum in Lahore. It's without serial number and operator's markings. Probably an ex-Afghan or Soviet machine that landed in Pakistan during Soviet-Afghan War (1979-1989).

This helicopter landed in North Waziristan somewhere in the last few days of 1985. The Afghan crew had defected and brought it to Pakistan. From there it was ferried by Pakistan Army Aviation pilots and it made a fuelling stop at PAF Base, Mianwali on its way to Qasim. I vividly remember the incident as I was posted in Mianwali in those good old days.
