another great session; intresting to read is the before start checklist. one question about the gear pins, are the gear pins removed and kept in the cockpit? or the tow car takes them along with by showing to the operating crew?

If you remember an incident was happened for one of PK's B743 flight Sialkot-Jeddah which was diverted to Karachi as the gear pins were not removed by the ground crew. Due to which the crew was not able to retract the gears after getting air borne.

anyhow, thanks for sharing...

For 747, the FE ensures during pre flight walk around that the Landing gear safety pins are removed . Also around 10 minutes before departure time the Captain confirms from ground crew on intercom that landing gear pins removed.

Once all engines started and just before taxi captain again asks grd crew to remove the nose gear steering bypass pin ,give him hand signal and show the steering pin .. once pin is seen , the taxi clearance is obtained.
