I am afraid it would not have been better for me and my family if I had travelled on PIA from Manchester. PIA did not offer me a flight to Karachi on the day and time i wanted to depart and arrive, whereas EK with its multiple flights did. I also aim to arrive in Karachi during the day so it is easy for whoever is collecting me from the airport to pick me without missing out on their sleep or venturing out in the middle of the night.

When I have travelled from LHR I have taken PIA flights to KHI that arrive there at breakfast time and depart for KHR around midday.

Daytime arrival and departures are also better for photography:)
