No PIA order for 777. The ABN loans are just loan guarantees for the 8 777 initial order from 2002. The loan is for the 777-300ER jets.

No mention of the PIA order on the Boeing website either.

I have heard that PIA will be receiving these 3 773ER's later on this year as the a/c are already in the final stages of completion on the assembly line and the interior configuration needs to be changed from 2-5-2 to 3-3-3 and its a matter of months before they arrive.

KingFisher has placed huge orders. I reckon it might be a force in future. And definitely will challenge Jet Airways.

and plus after reading the trip report in airliners.net about the super jumbo 380 visiting india for kigfisher airlines. They will be something.

Are you serious?! This order hasnt even been confirmed (on the Boeing website) and they are almost completed?! Were these aircraft meant to be going to some other airline and PIA have requested to take them instad? Also by are they going for a 2-5-2 configuration?!! it should be 3-4-3 or 3-3-3 as the have already!

Yes apparently they were supposed to be going to some other carrier who is not taking delivery of them right now and hence an opportunity came along for PIA and they took it. These a/c were configured in a 2-5-2 configuration. Now other than SV and I think UA (neither of which has 773's as it is), I don't know which other airline uses this configuration. The configuration is being changed to the standard 3-3-3, minus the 'dry bar' option, followed by which they a/c will be going to the paint shop. This is what I have heard till now, so lets see what happens.

I also heard that Egypt Air has a rather weird setup in their 777's which is 2-4-3 configuration.
