Terrorism at Airports
The recent breach in security at Karachi Airport should remain an eye opener that such attempts are likely to be repeated. It is not enough to say that the security has been handed to the military and all should continue with their lives. Civil Aviation Authority should be formulating evasive procedures at various airports in Pakistan with regard to arrivals and departures of various commercial aircraft using our airports. The threat of shoulder launched missiles remains a very likely possibility and PIA should also be thinking of instructing their crew of possible maneuvers in the approach and landing phase, or below 10,000 feet to mitigate this. Helicopter airborne units to deter or pursue these terrorists should also be contemplated, since support airfields in case of Karachi are very much there. Terrorism is a very likely scenario in future and the guard shouldn't be relaxed.
