No PTV???

Post by haroon_ek » Tue Apr 29, 2014 6:10 pm

I stumbled upon this picture of ANA 788 and it caught me by surprise that it doesn't have PTV. What could be the reason for not having PTV? Weight save?

Tried to compare with other fleet and saw a 767 interior which has PTV on every seat.

The forward economy section of this domestic 788, with 3-3-3 seating as opposed to the standard 2-4-2 configuration.
Most probably such configuration is being used on Domestic flights that is why not having PTV :-k

These Japaneses airlines are very much into cost savings. They have already the last thing they'll compromise is human customer service. Plus no PTV/IEF means cost saving on the weight of the aircraft.

I read somewhere that after the crash of commercial airline industry in 2001, JAL later followed by ANA asked their PAX to use the airport toilets prior to boarding their domestic flights particularly the B-74R flights which carried more then 500 PAX. This way the aircraft don't carry extra water for toilet flush plus the weight of the PAX was little since they urinated at the airport.

On some flights the take-off weight was 500LBS less.
