Hong Kong Air Bridge collapse damages A330

Post by Vaqar Khan »

The front air bridge connected to a Cathay Pacific A330 collapsed ripping the door off the aircraft and injuring the person operating the gate. Luckily, boarding had been completed so more injuries were avoided. Please see the following link:

Reports say Cathay Pacific Flight 532, an Airbus A330, was starting to push back when the bridge collapsed and fell to the ground. The falling bridge ripped the door off of the jet.
Don't understand that! If the pushback had been started, then then the bridge should have been off the aircraft and retracted. The bridge must have been on the aircraft with L1 door open for it to have been torn off.
