Re: LOT Polish Belly Landing in Warsaw (11/01/2011)
Well deserved. This is comparable to the Hudson River landing of the A320 except that here the pilots had more time. The Sioux City landing of the DC10 where steering for landing and descent was accomplished by varying thrust of the two remaining engines with no other flight controls or hydraulics was a masterpiece of airmanship. There were fatalities. The BA's B777 landing after losing power on both engines at Heathrow on a flight from Beijing has been downplayed for reasons beyond me. Its time to acknowledge that.
