PIA TV Commercials - Year 2011

Couple of PIA commercials aired by Pakistan Television (PTV Home) on July 30, 2011.

They have used Flight Simulator in the beginning and then end of the nd video.Impressive.

In those year 2011 commercials, I think instead of using still photos and flight simulator videos, PIA should have spent money on making proper video clippings of crew, inflight service, actual aircraft etc. for usage in commercial.

In 1990s, during a major international squash tournament held in Pakistan with PIA as one of tournament’s main sponsors, PTV in its live coverage of the tournament frequently showed a PIA commercial during match breaks. There was a combination of old and new PIA video clippings in that 1990s commercial.

Video clippings shown in that 1990s PIA commercial included:

1) Rare late 1970s video footage of PIA Boeing 747-282B (AP-AYW) taking off from Karachi or Islamabad airport. The Boeing 747 had black anti-glare paint covering larger area below flight deck windows and it had Pan Am style golden cheatline.

2) Crew performing work in the cockpit of a PIA Boeing 747.

3) PIA Air Hostesses strolling in London or Paris. The Air Hostesses were wearing uniform introduced by PIA in 1986.

4) A video clipping from 1980s showing a PIA Boeing 747 landing probably at London-Heathrow Airport.

For background music that PIA commercial used a nice jingle. The jingle lyrics in Urdu began with line ”Pakistan International Airlines say milain khushiyan ….” sung by a male artist who sounded like or actually was Alamgir - a famous Pakistani pop star of 1980s.

Atlhough that 1990s commercial was not perfect as it used combination of video clippings from different time periods but I liked late 1970s video footage of AP-AYW and background jingle in that commercial.
