^ If I'm not wrong direct flights to Jeddah from Faisalabad took place some couple of years back. But last year, from Faisalabad & Sukker Hajis were first taken to Karachi and then onwards to Jeddah. There must be some so called LOGIC used by PIA to do that ...

Hajis Told Not To Carry Excess Baggage

KARACHI, Nov 6:
A PIA release on Tuesday has informed all Hajj pilgrims that the General Authority of Civil Aviation, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, has imposed a restriction on the highest limit of checked-in baggage for returning Hajis.

The Hajis will now be allowed to carry baggage up to 32kgs only. No excess baggage will, therefore, be allowed by the PIA staff in return flights. The excess baggage, if any, will be charged accordingly.

The passengers have also been informed that hand carry baggage up to 7 kgs would be allowed. The Hajis will also be provided packaging and transportation facility for up to 10 litres of Abe Zam Zam free of cost.

Following is taken from Daily Times news report (November 7, 2007)
Pilgrims will now be allowed to return with check-in baggage limited to 32 kg and hand-carry baggage up to 7 kg. The national carrier has requested returning pilgrims to ensure they carry only one piece of check-in luggage, and remain within both weight limits to avoid inconvenience and excess weight charges. The airline also requested pilgrims to report to the Jeddah Haj terminal eight hours before the departure time of their return flights.
