I hope that Alhamdulillah everyone onboard is safe and sound due to this incident. Have the URAL Airlines made any alternative arrangements to ferry these 155 Pax to their destination yet or they are staying at Lahore?

Russian plane lands at Lahore airport

By Shahid Hussain

LAHORE: A Russian aircraft, with 154 passengers on board, landed safely at the Allama Iqbal International Airport here on Tuesday.

The Tupolev Tu-155M plane of Ural Airlines flight SVR-3624 took off from the Bangkok Airport at 3.28PM according to Pakistani time. After the take off, the aviation authorities found pieces of tyres on the runway, which created panic among them. The information was passed on to the Air Traffic Control and authorities were put on alert at the Allama Iqbal International Airport where the plane, that was to land at Nizhnevartovsk Airport (Russia) for refuelling. However, no emergency was declared inside the plane, a senior official at the airport said.

All hospitals of the city were put on alert while fire brigade vehicles reached the runway to handle any untoward incident. The Airport Security Force, police and officials of sensitive agencies also reached the airport to handle any emergency. Ambulances, including those from Rescue 1122 Punjab Emergency, also reached the airport.

When contacted, Airport Manager Hafiz Zakawat-ul-Hassan said the plane successfully landed at 8.50PM and the passengers were taken to the lounge. He said one of the rear tyres of the aircraft was damaged.

However, the airport authorities had taken all the measures to tackle any situation during landing. He said the situation was handled by the Civil Aviation Authority at the Allama Iqbal International Airport. He said the plane would be allowed to fly for its destination after removal of the fault.

A technical official of CAA told The News that the airline is based in Yekaterinburg, Russia, and has two six-wheel main bogies fitted with large low-pressure tyres. He said the Tu-154 is powered by three rear-mounted low-bypass turbo fan engines arranged similar to those of the Boeing 727, and is slightly larger than its American counterpart.

Like many other Soviet airliners, the Tu-154 has an oversized landing gear enabling it to land on snow-covered unpaved runways without sustaining serious damage and this is why the plane landed safely here, he added.

I dont think so. If the flight was from Bankok to Moscow then Nizhnevartovsk Airport (Russia) is far out of the way and if it was destined for Tashkent, even then it does not make sense

Can anyone plz tell what was the destination of the flight. and why was LHE chosen for emergency landing. If there was a tyre burst at Bankok and it was noticed after departure, the info could have been passed much earlier to the crew for landing somewhere in India?????
