PIA wins Frankfurt cargo award

FRANKFURT: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has been given the first place award for the biggest volume increase in 2006, by Frankfurt Airport Authority. The award was presented at the annual dinner, which is a gala event attended by representatives of all airlines in Frankfurt.

The final ranking for biggest volume increase was under: 1st Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), 2nd Emirates and 3rd LTU.

The credit for this achievement rests solely with a cargo team of two PIA personnel whose tireless dedication made this award possible. They were encouraged by the management sales strategies and the Head Office.

I haven't read the article yet but , Congratulation on PIA's achievement of the Loyal AWARD, its been very long time when PIA last won anyother international award. Keep it up boys :lol: ....

Congrats to PIA for a job well done, It is motivated staff like those in FRA that keep this airline running. Too those staff members that take that extra step, Inshallah the Glory days of the Past will be back soon again and hopefully to stay this time.

Air Cargo is a very important revenue generating segment of the airline business, PIA devoted a lot of resources to it in the 70's with the induction of 707 freighters and 747 combis and reaped the rewards, but somehow lost interest in it when the 707s faded away and now the combis are on the verge of retirement also.
This award proves the potential of the business and that a few motivated employees can make a lot difference. Now if we can get our hands on a 777f, and convert at least three 737s into regional freighters things can really start rolling.
I would operate the 737fs to DAC, DXB,CMB,KTM,KWI etc and hub it at KHI, and operate the 777f to US via FRA and LTN(Louton).
