777-340ER & Crewing Issues

Post by Amaad Lone »

PIA should have two 777-340ERs by February 2007 and a sixth 777-200ER by January 2007.

I would imagine that by February 2007 these planes would have taken over the UK routes completely.

Would PIA have enough captians/pilots on its 8 777s to operate them 80-90 hours each per week???

Have some 747 crews already moved to the 777 fleet??

PIA is facing a major crunch on the T7 fleet. More pilots are being trained as we speak. But even then its a crises situation as 3 more 777s mean 30 more Captains. The A310 is already short of 12, so that source has to be capped now. The 747 captain alternative will have to be looked into, even though the junior pilots which includes PALPA will resist the move. The bottom line is that it fetches 777 pilots big bucks in terms of the extra hours, denied rest and excess duty but at the same time its a major operational hazzard.

they are in for some terrible sh**...

they've got grounded 747 crews to manage...crews to train for the ATR AND the new T7's coming in...BUT..no pilots...
things are spiralling out of control..

this is what i would suggest...the 737 F/o's be brought onto the A310 , which is what is hapenning..the 747 Captains be sent on the 777 as captains , and the 747 F/o's be given their next command on the ATR ,

while the A310 F/o's can be made captains on the A310 only.....why do i suggest that ? most of them have been flying this equipment for over 7 years and know it insde out...it'll save PIA money to transfer them from the right to the left seat on the same equipment.
..the fokker captains can take their next command on the 737 and the 737 captains can be transferred to the T7 too...so a quick rotation can do the trick provided someone in the managemtn uses their grey and white matter!
