Btw, why did you make on one point 737-800/900 and A320/21 on two points...its not logical!

Because the 738 and 739 holds almost the same number of seats. There is not much difference b/w the 2 aircrafts. That is the reason why i put them on the same line.

The A320 and A321 are quite a bit different. The A320 has less seats than the A321...hence the reason for giving the option to chose from the two.

The best replacement is either the A 319 or Boeing 737-700X and not -800 !

Just look at Southwest Airlines...they replaced over 350 B 733s with 400 B 737-700s.

Yeah the 737-700 would also be a good replacement, but i think the 738 would be better as it has about 50 more seats and PIA could really do with the extra capacity on their short-haul routes.

The 738 also has winglets! The 738 seems to be more popular than the 737-700 as it has had over 1000 sales (+over 650 firm orders) compared to the 737-700 which has sold about 750 (+400 orders)

the 738 would be suitable but i'm slightly inclined towards the A321 too...but the winglets onn the 738 tip the balance in its favour..

EMBRAER E195 is a very good aircraft to replace PIA B737 at present for the routes it fly

PIA 737-300s are being flown on regional routes to Middle East, South Asia and domestic routes.

I would go for mixture of ATR72-500s for the domestic routes and a few 737-800s for the regional and Middle Eastern routes.

Some of the 737-300 routes need to be replaced by a turboprop.

Airbus is coming out with an A320 with much bigger winglets to cut operating cost on flights over 2.5 hours. Presumably, they also plan to offer this option on the A321.

It should be noted that winglets do cut operating cost on flights over 2 hrs., but can be burden if used on short-haul flights. PIA should only go for winglet option after careful study.

.

This may turn out to be a one horse race considering the amount of influence US has over Pakistan these days.

The Embraer 195's are nice planes....I think they could serve PK quite well on the regional routes...that being said, the 737's have been selling like hot pancakes recently...I think a few 737NG's would serve PK quite nicely...

E195 is too small. The traffic is growing and the E-jet family does not have bigger plane than the 195 if more capacity is needed. So the best options are the 737NG or the A319/20/21.

I vote Embraer 195...
And then if PIA need a bigger airplane, they could go Airbus, because Embraer and Airbus are really close!
An Embraer will have a bigger airplane soon!

Even if they are close, PIA will not have the possibility to use same flight deck crew for both planes...then flexibilty and money economy for the 737NG and the A320 family compared to the E195!

Embraer will have bigger plane soon? source? when?
