PIA to start home delivery of tickets from June 15

Post by Abbas Ali »

LAHORE: PIA Chairman Tariq Kirmani has announced various steps for improvement of service being offered by national flag carrier.

PIA Chairman made the announcement while speaking at a function at Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) on Tuesday. LCCI President Mian Shafqat Ali, Senior Vice President Abdul Basit, Vice President Aftab Ahmad Vohra and former President Iftikhar Ali Malik and Mian Anjum Nisar also spoke on the occasion and threw light on various issues.

Tariq Kirmani said PIA would start home delivery of tickets from 15th of June and after that the passengers would be able to get their tickets while sitting in their homes. He added that PIA was improving its services with every passing day and foreigners are being inducted into its crew just to facilitate the passengers.

He said that only to make the PIA a real service oriented entity, a special attention is being given towards the complaints being forwarded by the passengers. He said that within ten days sealed glass boxes would be placed at all airports to receive the complaints.

Tariq Kirmani admitted that the sharp increasing oil prices are biggest challenge for the aviation industry in Pakistan but PIA had evolved a strategy to overcome the problem.

He said that PIA was striving to maintain its domestic market share at 70 percent.

He also announced to give special discount to all LCCI delegations in a bid to facilitate the business community.

Speaking on the occasion, the LCCI President Mian Shafqat Ali urged the Chairman that PIA should construct bonded cold storages at the airports to avoid spoiling of perishable commodities.

He said that PIA should also start direct flights from Lahore to Iran and central Asian towns of Almaty, Tashkent and Dushanbe as Pakistan’s trade relations with ECO countries are on a fast track.

The LCCI President said that there is an urgent need to focus on improvement of infrastructure – roads, railways, airports, ports and a fleet of aircraft to meet the growing demand for our passenger and cargo traffic to keep the momentum of growth going.

These are already underway, when i left Lahore (back in April) I saw glass boxes infront of the gate with marking saying "PIA Complaints and Suggestions"
