Leased B772
Jawaid Shaikh (SVP Procurement) is currently in London signing the lease agreement for the 2 additional 777s. This would bring the total of leased B777 to 4. It has been sounded that all four will be delivered in the year 2007.

I believe PIA will sign lease deal with ILFC for 3 Boeing 777s and all aircraft will be brand new. The deal will raise the number of Boeing 777s to be leased from ILFC to 4 and the total number of Boeing 777s in PIA fleet will become 12 including 3 Boeing 777-300ERs to be delivered by Boeing Company.

being a FE everyone thought he would push for the induction of 747 combis to replace the older versions...hasnt quite lived up to the expectations his community had from him.... if pia gets these two 777s and another three joining the fleet next year, it would boast a fleet of 10 777s and the 74m grounding a year before planned would not be questioned.

The way PIA is acquiring additional 777s, looks like the 747-300/200 fleet will be withdrawn from use in 2007.
Three 340ERs directly from Boeing and four from ILFC that is seven 777 due in 2007, against eight 747s going out.
Huge savings in fuel expenses, but a massive jump in lease and finance charges.
With the massive increase in borrowing to pay for the new 777s, and ATR42s, plus the cost to lease six A310s, I hope PIA is not heading for a disaster similar to Philippine Airlines.
What is the price difference between the 777-300 and 777-300ERs.
Considering that these 400 seaters will be flying to UK (8 hours) and Jeddah (5 hours) and New York (via Manchaster), maybe a better option will be a standard 777-300 (Cheaper to purchase) and reduce the capital cost to the airline.
Does PIA need a 300ER, and for which routes???

You are right. There is a secret word going around. And it will invite a big FE panic. Only 1 new Captain is being trained on the 747 this year and none is planned for the year 2007 according to the training department. The way PIA is acquiring additional 777s, looks like the 747-300/200 fleet will be withdrawn from use in 2007.
The new 777s are expected to absorb all the Captains waiting there turn to move up the ladder.

I am sure the ex-PIA flight engineers can get jobs with the airlines still operating classic 747-300/200s and A300-B4s.
Plus which ever airline buys PIA's fleet of six 747-300 must need some flight engineers.
Maybe charter airlines like Orient Thai and Air Universal can purchase PIA's 747-300s to retire their oldest 747-200s.
BTW how much does the section 41 work cost???

Dear 777-240ERI think the B773ER has more range and is more efficient than the B773.
I know the that the 300ER has more range than a standard 300, thats what the ER stands for (Extended Range).
The point is does PIA need the extended range aircraft considering the 400 seaters are being inducted to replace the 747s which were deployed on routes to UK (maximum 8.5 hour flights) and Saudi Arabia (maximum 5 hour flights) or domestic (maximum 2 hour flights).
Even the flights to New York are via UK so the same rules apply.
My point being that why spend the extra money for the range we do not need.
And secondly can u explain the following:
How is the 777-300ER more efficient then the standard 777-300???and is more efficient than the B773.
What do you mean when you say more efficient?????

how many captains are there on the B747's right now ? will the F/o's also be bumped upto the T7 ? hmm...and are'nt a few B747 captains due to retire this year ?
so basically..if u need about 8 captains , which is bare minimum , for each 777 , you have a demand for about 32 new captains for the 4 leased aircraft? and same goes for the F/o's too...not counting the the pilots retiring from the 747 and 777 who's slots will have to be filled too..
oh well..lets see what transpires...
hahah...funny FK should say that the grounding of the 74M's might be early next year when thats what i said in one of my posts ( which is what i heard from the DFO ) and FK claimed it was nonsense..haha..
