Just heard that ATR is going to announce something big related to PIA during the Dubai Air Show next week.

Could it be that PIA is about order some ATR72-500s as a partial replacement for the 737-340 fleet??

Any inside info on the topic.

Amaad

That ATR looks horrible in PIA colours, hope the livery is changed before they are inducted in the fleet.

I think Amaad means to say more order maybe coming this time for the 72-500 which is larger.

PK has ordered ATR 42-500 which has the capacity of about 45 seats.

What Amaad wants to know is ATR going to announce that PK is going to order the ATR 72-500 which holds around 70 seats.

I agree PK should go for ATR 72-500. They will have fleet commontality so the costs will be fairly low.

Also instead of PK doing twice daily ISB-MUX B733 they can have 2 ATR72 flights, providing more choice to consumers.

Good point.

They definately should order at least 5 ATR-72's thereby having a total ATR fleet of 12 a/c. As mentioned before, the A72's can be deployed on those routes which are currently being served by half empty 733's.

Can Faisalabad-Islamabad flights be resumed by the induction of these a/c's? They can atleast start the service thrice a weak LYP-ISB and ISB-LYP.

Just because the ATR website shows pics of the a/c in the current PIA colors doesn't necessarily mean that they will be painted in those very colors.

If you recall, when the 777 order was formally announced, they showed models of the a/c in the old green/white colors and when the actual a/c arrived the colors had changed.

With all the talk going on about changes/modifications to the current livery, its very likely that those a/c will be delivered in the new modified livery. The January delivery of the 777LR will throw some light on this fact and confirm if the livery change is actually true or merely another rumour.

Indeed moin is correct, i doubt this livery will be painted on the ATRs next year, aircraft manufacturers always release images in the airline current colours just to represent that the airline has bought the aircrafts from it.

When PIA ordered the B777 all of its fleet had the three green stripe underbelly livery (Sporty 1990s livery), as at that time it was unknown if the airline was going to introduce a new livery until the final product was being assembled......

Very true PK777. A little off topic but, that livery looks alot nicer on the 777s than the current one.
