It's about 23 kilometers away from existing Islamabad Airport.

I guess after opening of the new airport, the existing airport will become full military airbase.

Latest Baggage screening system arrive for new airport. Now temporary used at current airport until transfer to new airport.

I think this the same baggage screening machine also in used at all Airports in USA, by TSA.

NIIA is an ideal chance for Pakistan to revamp its presence by ensuring all the major airlines in the world to re start the operations from ISB.
New routes will also needs to open from this airport as well.

Any idea about runways landing systems i mean which catagory?

New Islamabad International Air Port (NIIAP) Project - Islamabad

Package - 4A - Airport Master Systems Integration (MSI)


Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has decided to implement airport Master Systems Integration (MSI) programme at New Islamabad International Air Port (NIIAP) to ensure that all systems being deployed at the airport including airport operational systems, air traffic control systems are functionally integrated to meet operational requirements. For this purpose, CAA intends to procure Master Systems Integration package which shall include design, development, procurement, manufacturing, shipping, storing, installation, training, testing/commissioning, operation and maintenance of Master Systems Integration at NIIAP project. The Master Systems Integrator shall be responsible for integration of all systems in order to reach a state where the airport operational readiness programme can commence and progress towards airport opening and full commercial flights operations.

Today (December 16) a Senate Committee delegation led by Senator Talha Mahmood visited under construction New Islamabad International Air Port (NIIAP).

The state of the art airport is being built on 3289 acres of land.

Tender Notice: Package 7B-1 Air Traffic Management System


Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) is undertaking construction of Islamabad International Air Port (IIAP) on a self-financing basis and several work packages pertaining to this project are already under execution.

PCAA now intends to procure one redundant air traffic management (ATM) system along with its associated equipment and services to cater radar operations at IIAP. The procurement includes as a minimum the provisioning, installation, testing and commissioning to main and hot standby configured International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) compliant ATM with offline facility of reputable international original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to be interfaced with radar data on turnkey basis as per specifications given in the bidding documents.

The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is developing a new airport at Islamabad. The airport is scheduled for completion by December 2016. The airport has the highest traffic growth rate and is poised to become a major hub with annual passenger projected to reach nine million.

CAA is inviting Expression of Interest from local and international specialist Airport Retail Consultants or firms having demonstrable and successful experience in airport retail.

The successful consultant/firm is expected to provide professional consultancy and based on market research, develop a cohesive strategic plan for establishing retail outlets and placement of promotional facilities in the terminal building and adjoining areas. In addition to the terminal building the consultant/firm will also develop plans for the available landside of the airport for commercial exploitation. The strategic plan would culminate into a master plan for commercial development at New Islamabad International Airport. In addition to the above, the consultant will assist the CAA in the branding and marketing of the retail opportunities.

Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) invites tenders on a two-envelope basis (technical & financial) for establishing a state-of-the art world class flight kitchen at the New Islamabad International Airport on a joint venture basis. The airport is scheduled to be commissioned by end 2016.

The new airport is targeted to serve nine million passengers annually in Phase-I. It is poised to become the next hub of all aviation activities in Pakistan. PCAA has catered over seven acres of land for the establishment of the flight kitchen.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minster on Aviation Capt. Shujaat Azeem in an interview on Dunya News programme "Tonight with Moeed Pirzada" said:

* Completion of two dams for water storage/harvesting for the airport expected in July this year.

* New Islamabad International Air Port boarding bridges increased from nine to fifteen.

* Ninety percent of New Islamabad International Air Port construction work completed.

* The airport will have ILS CAT-III.

* Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer (ORAT) for new airport of Islamabad is expected to begin around September this year.

* Authorities working hard to make airport operational by the end of year 2016.

* The original PC-1 for the airport did not include all components for airport construction and that's why it had lower cost.

* The revised PC-1 for the airport included all required components for the airport and that's why it has higher cost.

Deficiencies in Original PC-1
1. Site preparatory works.
2. Airside infrastructure (Civil Works).
3. Passenger terminal building.
4. Landside roads, bridges, drains, & utilities.

Total: Rs. 36.865 billion

Revised PC-1 (shortfalls)
1. AFL.
2. Nav aids.
3. ATC equipment.
4. Hydrant refueling system.
5. Aircraft stand equipment.
6. Electric power & telecommunication.
7. Landscaping.
8. Grid station.
9. Miscellaneous landside buildings.
10. Special systems.
11. Price escalation & FEC.

Total: Rs. 81.171 (36.865+44.306) billion.
