My first post on this forum

Congratulations, Pakistan. The airport is superb.
The old and the new airport are miles apart. Hope that Pakistan scales new heights in aviation after this.
The love for one's country is a splendid thing. But why should one stop at the border? :D

Unlike ISB HKG was already a global aviation hub back then and HKG was the largest airport ever built at that time. Yes all airports get teething issues but HKG fixes them and became one of the finest airports in the world, hopefully ISB’s issues get fixed and they can soar like Hong Kong

Disruptions in baggage delivery at Islamabad International Airport resolved

RAWALPINDI:
There were slight problems with delivering baggage to passengers at the new Islamabad International Airport which have now been resolved, according to a statement issued by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

No major incidents or disruptions were witnessed on the first day the airport started operation.

`This is ample proof that the [CAA] has rehearsed extensively before commencing its operations otherwise such giant projects do have a few problems in the beginning,` the statement says.

It goes on to say that all operations at the new airport are being monitored and that the few initial problems are being addressed on an emergency basis. All stakeholders, including the airlines, are coordinating to ensure smooth operations.

Airside operations, the most sensitive part of airport operations, are also going smoothly, it says.

The transition to the new airport was conducted without disturbance of the flight schedule and such transitions are generally achieved after closing down airports for a day or two, the statement says.

The new airport can seat 4,500 passengers in its lounges at a time and is equipped with state-of-the-art technology. It is the largest airport in the country and can serve nine million passengers and 150 metric ton cargo every year while its modular design enables expansion so it can serve 25 million passengers every year by 2025.

To be honest I am always critical of how Pakistan is much behind other countries. I flew from the new Islamabad Airport on the 6th. I am absolutely amazed with the Airport they have built. Interior colours are amazing. They have separate smoking facilities which give good views of the apron and runway.
I am gobsmacked with the actual size. It is so so big. The immigration desks have increased with so much space around check-in and customs.
There were teething problems with toilets not maintained. Luggage trolleys had brakes.
It is also amazing that people coming to arrivals to collect their loved ones can actually see people waiting to collect luggage of the belt from the top.

The airport actually reminds me if the Dubai Airport . That's how huge it is.

Well done Pakistan
