Oslo/Copenhagen loads?

Post by PIAinORD » Fri Aug 05, 2005 1:32 am

How good are the loads on these flights? If PIA is using B747 right now to fill the demand it seems that PIA should upgrade these flights especially if there is good loads out of one or the other (i.e. if Oslo is doing very well it should get its own dedicated service).

The load is not that high at Copenhagen, only some flights during the summer PIA needs a 747. Especilly now when SWE FLY has started up their flights to LHE. I talked to the PIA manager at CPH, and he told me that PIA had lost nearly all their swedish pax, and also some danish pax after SWE FLY had started their operations to LHE.

Yesterday, Wedensday, the AP-BFX 743 was even not half full from CPH to LHE. But PIA needed the 743 to bring all their "summer vacation" pax back "home" to Norway and Denmark.

I think with the twice flights from CPH, and tree flights from OSL PIA are doing good with the A310. I looking forward to see what PIA do when the 777LR will arrive, and maybe replace some of the 743 on the England routes. But the jump from A310 to 743 is to high for CPH and OSL, for the low season period.

I also hope that CPH will get their own non stop route to and from Pakistan, like OSL have on the saturdays. I know it's because the staff from saturdays flight at OSL, got to go home on the sundays flight to ISB via CPH.

Swefly currently I think flies 3 or 6 weekly flights from Stockholm to LHE compared to the once weekly PIA flights to CPH so naturally it would be a more popular option + a cheaper option too.

Swefly has shuttle F50 flights from Stockholm to Oslo, CPH etc hence providing a convenient feeder service for its LHE bound flights.

Swefly are now looking into sending their product to DAC nonstop from Stockholm with the B 762ERs.

PIAs loads to and from CPH + OSL in the summer peak season are pretty high warranting a B 743 on most flights during this period to make as much money as they can by offering more seats.

.

Yes they are indeed as the A 310-300 is the perfect aircraft with the right pax capacity to serve this market segment.
But the jump from A310 to 743 is to high for CPH and OSL, for the low season period.
It will never happen in the off season.

SweFly flies into Lahore six times a week. SweFly have feeder flights to Stockholm from both Oslo and Copenhagen with a Fokker 50. In the UK SweFly traffic London/Luton and Leeds/Bradford.

Swefly has prompted PIA to provide service between Oslo/Copenhagen and Lahore. If my memory serves me correct earlier they were connected to Islamabad only.

How does PIA place the return crew for such a flight??

Copenhagen and Oslo are served by an A310. Now all of a sudden if PIA needs to operate a 747 for a heavier flight, how does it place the crew to bring the plane back.

Does it place them from London, or send an entire crew a few days in advance for the return flight??

Plus what happens to the crew that took the plane there in the first place, does it move on to Manchaster, or return home on a seperate flight??

Just curious about the rostering of the crews.

You would not be surprised to know that PIA schedule states the wrong equipment. PK 739 from Islamabad to Oslo is infact operated by B743. That leaves one A310 flight.

A310 crew commutes on the other two B743 flights.

I have seen the crew change at OSL, when I'm returning from ISB heading for CPH via OSL.

The crew are from the day before (saturday), I think when OSL gets a A310 on saturdays, the CPH also gets an A310 the following day. So the crew can fly back to Pakistan on the same type of A/C.

I know from Scandinavian Airline System, that the cabin crew can max. operate 2 different aircraft types, and pilots can only oprerate one aircraft type at time.

So I'm very suprissed to hear from "cheetah" that an 743 crew, can overtake an A310 A/C next day. And thoug we are talking PIA...

That is not what i said. There is no equipment cross training in PIA.

Oslo is served by two B743 flights a week and once by an A310. The A310 crew fly non-operating on the 743 and bring the A310 flight back. Similarly the crew that operates the A310 to Oslo takes the following B743 flight back again non-operating.
