since all the premises of Shaheen Air are confiscated, why not CAA confiscate the grounded junk yard of Shaheen Air fleet of B732s at Karachi and B734s at Lahore and sell them to pay the salaries of these poor employees.

Chief Justice sab are requested to take sou-motu notice and orders the authorities to get hands on the culprits of Shaheen with red warrants and bring them back to Pakistan

PESHAWAR: The employees of a private airline, Shaheen Air, on Saturday staged protest against the non-payment of salaries for five months.

They were carrying banners and placards demanding the early release of their salaries.

The protesters, including women employees, had gathered outside the Peshawar Press Club building for the protest.

The speakers said the airline did not pay salaries to its 4,000 employees for the past few months.

They said their families were facing hardships due to non-payment of salaries.

“We are facing financial problems as we have not received salaries for five months. The management is making lame excuses to pay the salaries,” a protester said.

The employees said they had to arrange livelihood for their families, pay tuition fees of children therefore they could not wait anymore.

They demanded the Supreme Court to take note of the situation and help them get their salaries.

They warned to launch a protest campaign if their salaries were not released forthwith.

SAI employees seek release of salaries

11/18/2018

PESHAWAR:
Employees of Shaheen Air International (SAI) have appealed to the chief justice of Pakistan (CJP) to take notice of nonpayment of their salaries and other allowances for the last four months by the management.

Speaking at a press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Saturday, the employees headed by Captain Faisal Naseem Gul alleged that SAI chairman Kashif Sehbai and chief executive officer Ahsan Sehbalhad already returned the aircraft to the relevant company and left the country to avoid wrath of the workers.

Expressing his concern over the closure of airlines operations, Mr Gul said that it was the second largest airlines after PIA with 18 aircraft and it did good business with passengers growth of up to about 22 per cent.

He claimed that non-professional attitude and manipulation of its financial resources by the chairman and his brother CEO led to the closure, but the Federal Board of Revenue and Civil AviationAuthority were also responsible for downfall of the airlines.

He added that the airlines management never took it seriously to pay salaries to the workers timely and preferred to hire services of technical people on credit.

`The management had started stashing the earnings of SAI abroad in order to avoid clearing government dues and salaries to its employees,` Mr Gul alleged and added that SAI had stopped its operation between July and September 2018 where the dues further swelled.

He said that there were approximately 4,000 to 5,000 employees working in SAI who met the acting CEO Javed Sehbal for their salaries and allowances, but to no avail.

They demanded of Prime Minister Imran Khan to take action against the SAI chairman and CEO and bring them back to Pakistan to clear their dues.

Earlier, the employees, including air hostess, pilots and other technical staff, staged a protest demonstration near the cantonment railway station.

They were holding placards and banners inscribed with their demands and slogans against the SAI management.

^ the Acting CEO Shaheen Air Javed Sehbai is trying to convince airline's employees to demonstrate against CAA and FBR for getting their salaries and allowances paid.

The demonstrations by Shaheen Air employees were against airline management, and not against CAA or FBR. And, these demonstrations were carried out by deciding amongst each other:

1. To get their dues paid by Shaheen Air management.

2. To seek help from Prime Minister or Chief Justice of Pakistan in getting employees' legal financial payments from Shaheen Air.

FBR has frozen the accounts for Shaheen, however one is guessing that there is not much in the account anyway!

What are the latest developments here, if any?

Seems to have gone very quiet with both on the employees front and from Shaheen on their investment from a Saudi prince.

Supreme Court Orders Sale of Shaheen Air Assets

Today, during case hearing Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar asked where is CEO Shaheen Air?

Seems CEO Shaheen Air was not in the court.

The court said that CAA should have taken steps to make Shaheen Air pay salary to its employees.

CAA also failed to recover its dues from Shaheen Air, the court remarked. CAA showed criminal negligence by not recovering dues from Shaheen Air. The court questioned how Shaheen Air was allowed to continue operating flights in such circumstances.

The court has asked for the sale for Shaheen Air assets.

'Why not sell Shaheen Air's assets to recover unpaid amount?' CJP asks

Haseeb Bhatti

December 03, 2018

Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar on Monday remarked that Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and Shaheen Air International (SAI) officials are "colluding to make a mess of things" as the Supreme Court resumed hearing a case regarding the airlines' payment of dues to the CAA.

Justice Nisar was heading a three-judge bench hearing the case pertaining to a long-drawn dispute between both organisations regarding the airline's non-payment of Rs1.5 billion to the aviation authority.

The CAA had partially suspended Shaheen's international flight operations in July 2018 due to the non-payment of its dues ─ despite the Sindh High Court's orders to this effect ─ leaving passengers stranded in China.

SAI had moved the high court against the CAA directive and the court ordered that the authority should not suspend the airline’s operations if it made the payments as per an agreed timetable.

The top judge asked CAA Director General Hassan Baig how much was payable to the aviation body by SAI, to which the CAA DG responded that Shaheen Air has yet to pay Rs1.34bn.

"Recovering dues is your job," Justice Nisar remarked, adding: "It seems as though you have colluded to make a mess of things."

"Where is the Shaheen Air chief executive officer?" the CJP asked. Baig responded that the CEO is out of the country, to which the chief justice remarked: "You drove him out of the country. You all are involved in this together."

The chief justice asked how employees who had not received their salaries were getting by, and also wanted to know what assets SAI owns.

"Why not sell all of Shaheen Air's property to recover the amount?" the CJP asked, summoning the airline's CEO.

He asked for the SAI CEO to be present in court today or tomorrow ─ at the latest ─ and ordered a break in the hearing.

Shaheen Airlines yet to pay Rs1.34bn: CAA DG

Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar on Monday said that the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and Shaheen Air International (SAI) officials have made a mess of the issue as the Supreme Court resumed hearing a case regarding the airlines’ payment of dues to the CAA.

Main Saqib Nisar was heading a three-judge bench hearing the case pertaining to a dispute between Shaheen Airlines and the CAA regarding the airline’s pending payment of Rs1.5 billion.

Despite the Sindh High Court’s orders, the CAA had partially suspended SAI’s international flight operations in July 2018 due to the non-payment of its dues, which had left passengers stranded in China.

Shaheen Airlines’ had moved the high court against the CAA directive and the court had ordered that the authority should not suspend the airline’s operations if it made the payments as per an agreed time frame.

The top judge asked CAA Director General Hassan Baig how much was payable to the aviation body by SAI, to which the CAA DG responded that Shaheen Air has yet to pay Rs1.34 billion.

“Recovering dues is your job,” Justice Nisar remarked, adding: “It seems as though you have colluded to make a mess of things.”

The chief justice wanted to know what assets SAI owns and asked how employees who had not received their salaries were getting by.

He asked for Shaheen Airlines’ CEO to make himself available for the hearing on Tuesday, and further remarked that maybe SAI’s property should be sold to recover the amount.
