PIA Cabin Crew Complain Against Delay in International Slip and Meal Allowance

Post by Abbas Ali »

According to City42 News channel, PIA cabin crew through Pakistan Airlines Cabin Crew Association (PACCA) have complained against delayed payment of international slip allowance and meal allowance.

Here's excerpt from document shown by the news channel:

"Foreign slip allowance/meal allowance, being paid to cabin crew in US dollars while operating international layover flights has not been paid as per procedure that is within 37 days. Unfortunately, finance department has failed to pay allowance from September 2016 to June 2017 (10 months)". This delay in payment is turning out to be serious matter as crew is mentally disturbed on international layover flights; searching cheap food places because it is not easy to afford in foreign countries. Not only this, in this regard cabin crew have to buy foreign currency that they require for international layover flight from their salary and keeping up with daily expenses at home is not easy for them in such circumstances. Probably that is one of the major cause of seeing some crew involved in illegal activities. There is no way to protect or support an act of smuggling, in fact they shall be punished by the law but the fact cannot be ignored that such delays in allowances provokes cabin crew to look for illegal means of income to bear expenses at international layover flights."
