20 PIA air hostesses, stewards have fake degrees

ISLAMABAD:- The CAA Thursday revealed that 20 airhostesses and stewards of PIA having fake matriculation certificates. The CAA has sent their degrees to different education boards of the country for verification. All the educational boards have confirmed that these members have fake degrees. The CAA has now written to PIA asking the airline to immediately terminate the services of these staff members. PIA has begun action against them. Earlier this month, the national airline informed the Supreme Court that at least 12 pilots and 73 crew members had fake degrees. APP

Supreme Court Suspends High Courts and Lower Courts' Stay Orders Issued to Aircraft Crew in Cases of Fake Educational Documents

Today, the Supreme Court of Pakistan suspended high courts and lower courts' stay orders issued in cases of fake educational documents of airline employees/aircraft crew. The court also sought details of stay orders.

Pakistan CAA informed the court that a number of educational institutes are not cooperating in the verification process of educational documents of airline employees/aircraft crew. The Supreme Court ordered that owners/administrators of such educational institutions should appear in the court.

Pakistan CAA informed the court about the number of pilots and flight attendants suspended for bogus educational documents and show cause notices issued to them.

The Supreme Court directed Pakistan CAA to continue the process of airline employees/aircraft crew educational documents verification.

Next hearing of the case will take place on December 25.

Today, the Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered completion of the verification process of educational documents of Pakistani airlines aircraft crew by December 28.

Pakistan CAA informed the court that text is not clearly visible or blurry on a number of educational documents submitted by aircraft crew and it's difficult to get such documents verified. The court ordered that aircraft crew who submitted such documents should be sacked.

The case was heard at Lahore registry of the Supreme Court.

Faisalabad board has verified educational documents of 89 aircraft crew.

Sargodha board has verified 26 out 70 educational documents of aircraft crew.

39 educational documents of aircraft crew could not be verified.

5 educational documents had bogus roll numbers.

Supreme Court of Pakistan has ordered Pakistan CAA to complete the process of verification of educational documents of aircraft crew and submit report today.

Pakistan CAA submitted a preliminary report at the court with information about airline employees with fake/bogus educational documents.

The court was informed that:

* Seven pilots had submitted fake/bogus educational documents.

* Five pilots are just matriculate.

* Three pilots are not even matriculate.

* The process of verifying 4,321 educational documents of aircraft crew has been completed.

* The process of verifying 438 educational documents of aircraft crew is in progress.

* Fifty airline officers have been suspended for not submitting educational documents.

Today, the Supreme Court of Pakistan directed Pakistan CAA to submit final report after completing the process of verifying educational documents of aircraft crew within ten days.

LAHORE: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) revealed before a Supreme Court bench on Friday that academic credentials of seven pilots of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) had been found to be bogus and five of them had not even done matric.

Justice Ijazul Ahsan, a member of the three-judge bench, observed that a non-matric person could not even drive a bus but middle-pass people had been flying aeroplanes, putting the lives of passengers in danger.

The bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar was hearing a matter relating to the verification of degrees of pilots and other staff of the national flag carrier.

The CAA legal adviser told the bench that the authority had been facing difficulties in completing the degrees’ verification process due to non-cooperation of educational boards and universities. The counsel said the PIA was also delaying provision of record of its employees, including pilots and cabin crew. She pointed out that cases of 4,321 employees had been verified while 402 were still pending.

A PIA officer told the bench that at least 50 employees had been suspended for not furnishing their documents. The bench directed the CAA counsel to have a meeting in the conference room of the SC with the officials of the PIA, education boards and the universities to sort out the pending cases.

When the bench resumed hearing after a while, the CAA counsel stated that there were only 207 cases left to be verified. She sought more time to do the needful. The CJP accepted the request and adjourned the hearing till Jan 9.

CJP Nisar also modified an earlier order and ruled that the PIA was free to retain or extend services of its contract employees in accordance with the law. He further asked the PIA to submit a list of its all 498 pilots along with their result of licence examination — Airline Transport Passport Licences and Commercial Pilot Licence.

Fake academic credentials: PIA terminates services of 3 pilots, 50 cabin crew members

KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has terminated three pilots and 50 cabin crews on accounts of fake academic credentials.

According to PIA spokesman, on the directives of Supreme Court of Pakistan, the national flag carrier after completing formal scrutiny process confirmed the academic credentials of three pilots and 50 cabin crews including males and females ‘Fake’. Consequently all of them have been removed from service on immediate basis.

Recorder Reporter adds from Lahore: In light of the proceedings of Supreme Court of Pakistan against fake-degree-holder pilots and fake-certificate-holder cabin crews, Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Director General Hassan Baig issued directives to suspend the licenses of referred pilots and cabin crews with immediate effect.

According to a CAA’s spokesperson here on Saturday, the Director General also issued directives to suspend the licenses of all those pilots and cabin crews who have not yet submitted their degrees and certificates. Their licenses will remain suspended till they submit their referred documents for verification. He also ordered to extend the defect liability period of all contractors of Islamabad International Airport for six months owing to their dissatisfactory performance. Earlier, he already had directed to extend the defect liability period of the contractor of boarding bridges of Islamabad Airport for one year because of their disappointing performance.

A number of PIA employees sacked for submitting fake/bogus educational documents have decided to seek justice from the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

The sacked employees claim they have verified educational documents but are being targeted because they are belong to airline's employees union affiliated with a political party singled out by authorities.

PIA spokesperson has dismissed claim made by the sacked employees.

Report about fake/bogus educational documents of these employees was presented in the Supreme Court.

Claims that employees are being targeted on the basis of their political affiliation is not true, said the airline's spokesperson.

PIA has suspended 21 pilots and removed them from flying duty roster.

These pilots had failed to submit secondary school and higher secondary school certificates despite several reminders.

It's suspected that their matriculation certificates are fake/bogus.

Notification of six Lahore-based cabin crew sacked by the airline also has been issued.

PIA is seeking restoration of licences of around 36 pilots/cabin crew. Documents of these aircraft crew members have been sent to educational institutes for verification. The airline wants their licences restored till the completion of verification process.

Licences of these aircraft crew members were suspended two days ago by Pakistan CAA because they had not submitted their educational documents earlier for the verification process.
