Today, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in his address to Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) members advised traders and industrialists of Faisalabad to follow the model of Sialkot businessmen and construct an airport in Faisalabad on self-help basis.
PM Abbasi said that the Government of Punjab is ready to provide land for construction of the airport and it will be a successful project.
The airport in Sialkot was constructed on self-help basis with the efforts of Sialkot business community.
Today, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that, just like Sialkot, private sector is also interested in constructing a new airport in Faisalabad and government is ready to offer full support for the project.
He said this after inaugurating International Terminal of Sialkot International Airport today.

Isn’t this the responsibility of the state ? If they don’t want to carry it, they should sell the current airport and the surrounding lands to the pivate sector

Few days ago, industry leaders of Faisalabad met him and expressed interest in building a new airport in Faisalabad as private sector project like the airport in Sialkot. The government fully supports this idea and will provide all possible facilities for the project. The air traffic is growing in Faisalabad. The private sector airport in Faisalabad can be more successful than Sialkot, he said. I'm hopeful Faisalabad industry leaders as a challenge will construct the new airport in the city, he said. It will be commercially viable venture and play role in the development of the area. CAA will facilitate the project and it will also have government support, PM Abbasi said.
