Today, Director General Privatization Commission told National Assembly Standing Committee on Privatisation that accumulated losses suffered by PIA are now over 316 billion rupees.

Depreciation and exchange rate losses are something PIA cannot help.

The more important figure is the total liabilities of PIA and total bank loans.

The Government of Pakistan provided guarantees amounting to Rs. 161.5 billion on behalf of PIA, as of June 30, 2017, where as total borrowing and accumulated losses of PIA swelled to Rs. 186.5 billion and Rs. 316 billion as of December 31, 2016, respectively.
