PIA Seeking US Support to Operate Non-stop Flights to New York

Karachi, November 10, 2017: US Consul General Grace W. Shelton called on CEO PIA Musharraf Rasool Cyan at airline’s head office.

Musharraf Cyan gave a comprehensive briefing on airline operations to US Consul General and discussed matters of mutual interests. He said that PIA is keen to operate non-stop flights between Pakistan and New York and requested the US Consul General to extend her support for permission of having non-stop flights to New York.

Ms. Shelton appreciated the efforts of PIA management to revitalize the airline and assured to extend possible cooperation regarding the matter with concerned US authorities.

A consul general of Karachi has no power to grant such flights, or even suggest to anyone.

The decision to allow PIA to operate non-stop flights to the US are probably handled by the highest level of the US government.
