Today, Standing Committee on Finance, Revenue, Economic Affairs, Statistics and Privatization was informed by Minister for Privatisation Daniyal Aziz that the Government of Pakistan is again considering to privatise PIA due to airline's continued poor performance. The airline has a bleak future under current situation.

The government's previous attempt to privatize the airline faced difficulties/hurdles due to tough conditions set by opposition parties. The conditions did not allow strategic investor to have its own management of the airline. There also were restrictions on shares distribution percentage for the investor.

Such conditions prevented in getting investor(s) for the airline.

These conditions through legislation need to be changed to find good investor for the airline that has suffered loss of more than four hundred billion rupees.
