PIA Planning to Start Flights Between Karachi and Bangkok

Seems PIA is planning to resume Bangkok flights.

Tender Notice in August 5 newspaper.

PIA invites applications from catering service providers and companies in trade having considerable experience in airline catering for Bangkok Airport as per following details:

Total number of meals: 2000 per month (15% +/-)



Thialand should be read as Thailand.

PIA thrice-a-week Airbus A320 flights from Karachi to Bangkok starting from September 16, according to DAWN News channel.

Almost five hours long flight on A320 whereas Thai Airways provides A330 or A340 with reasonably well IFE. Often connection to the tourist islands are offered on cheap rates by Thai.

Airblue's ISB/LHE-JED are more than 4 hours without IFE. I've travelled many times on Lhe-Jed route, you can either sleep or have your own mobile/laptop for any kind of work/entertainment or else there will be a hell of boredom!

Might have been better if PIA had leased two latest A321-200s put in 12 club class seats and 180 economy, equipped with the latest IFE system.

Do a code share with a Thai airline that serves various destinations in the Far East and Australia.

Hit Bangkok with a daily flight twice out of Islamabad and Lahore each and thrice from Karachi.

Introducing a route served by Thai and flying it with 180 seat A320s is a kill kill option.

PIA to Start Flights to Bangkok

Karachi, August 25, 2017: PIA will operate three weekly flights from Karachi to Bangkok, Thailand, commencing from September 16, 2017. This makes the total destinations on PIA's network to 50 (both international and domestic). This was announced at the PIA Head Office on finalization of all arrangements for the commencement of operation.

Secretary Aviation and Chairman PIA Irfan Elahi expressed his satisfaction on the finalization and commencement of flight operations to Bangkok. He said that with the induction of aircraft in fleet more destinations will be added to PIA’s network. Passengers will now be able to travel to Bangkok with convenient timings and swift connections to be provided to passengers traveling from other major cities of Pakistan.

PIA will operate Airbus A320 aircraft for direct flights between Karachi and Bangkok.

In every Thai flight there is a sizeable number of passengers who are in vacation mode and appreciate games and movies. The other segment is Australaisa goers or US West coast. The PIA geniuses are offering thrice weekly when Thai comes every day sometimes twice a day to Karachi (if I am not mistaken, not sure about Islamabad). Best of luck PIA on getting passenger load.

PIA will only be catering for the Bangkok and Thailand traffic.

PIA unfortunately goes with Low yielding Passengers, so in case if the fare difference is reasonable, PIA will be able to fill all economy bound mostly for Bangkok only.

Bangkok is mainly a transit hub most passengers continue onwards to destinations in the Far East or Australia that's why PIA's Bangkok flight was paired with Hong Kong before
