Dear friends.
I just want to know which widebody aircraft will prove to be economic from airlines perspective on short domestic 1 and 1 and a half hour flights.
From last few days Air India is using Boeing 747-400 on delhi-srinagar-delhi route, instead of Airbus A321.
The fact can be understood well given the tourist rush, in summers sxr generally is slot constrained.
For Hajj operations they are using Boeing 777-300 aircrafts from Srinagar to Jeddah.
Previously during summers also they used Airbus A330 on del-sxr route. Now A330 are not in Air India fleet, B787 can serve well, they essentially deploy it on a 40 minute delhi-amritsar route.
If they have a high demand on this route, they just go for widebody aircraft rather increasing daily frequency.
For Sxr-del essentially an hour and 15 minutes flight time they generally go for either B777 or B747.
Can't they use B787 for Hajj operations as well.
Your Inputs plzzz..

Pakistan is not as big as India so Narrow Bodies like the A321 and 757 are best for Pakistan's domestic and regional flights

His question was specifically about widebodies. Naturally, yes the A320 family is an excellent choice for most of domestic operations across Pakistan.Pakistan-1 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 21, 2017 3:58 am Pakistan is not as big as India so Narrow Bodies like the A321 and 757 are best for Pakistan's domestic and regional flights
I personally think 777 is too big to be filled on domestic routes, unless around key occasions (Eid holidays etc). Something of size of A330/787 suits more to be operated around peak hours in a day.
