PIA Islamabad to London Flight PK-785 Rerouted via Paris

According to news sources, today's PIA Islamabad to London-Heathrow flight PK-785 is rerouted via Paris. The Boeing 777 will stay in Paris for around forty minutes before resuming flight to London.

There are some items aboard the aircraft that have to be handed over to PIA personnel in Paris.

Earlier, there were reports about PK-785 passengers aboard the aircraft parked at Islamabad Airport in hot weather protesting against the absence of air conditioning in aircraft cabin. Maybe ground power unit (GPU) or aircraft's auxiliary power unit (APU) was not working. The passengers were shifted to airport lounge.

Closure of Islamabad Airport runway due to hot weather/technical reason causing delay in departure of PK-785 also reported.

PIA Boeing 777-240ER registration AP-BGL departed from Islamabad at 3:22 PM as PK-785 with a delay of more than two hours. The flight was scheduled to depart at 1:10 PM.

Seems PIA Boeing 777-340ER registration AP-BID is stranded at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport.

The B777 has not returned to the skies after landing in Paris on June 4 as PK-769 from Islamabad. The aircraft's Paris to Barcelona flight PK-770 was cancelled.

Maybe today's PK-785 carried some spares parts/engineering team for AP-BID.

AP-BGL as PK-785 has landed at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport.

Flight PK-770 from Paris via Barcelona that was scheduled to land at Islamabad Airport at 11:10 AM today is now expected to arrive in Islamabad tomorrow (June 6).

AP-BGL has departed from Paris to resume flight PK-785 to London-Heathrow. The Boeing 777 stayed in Paris for about one hour & twenty-two minutes.

AP-BID has departed from Paris as PK-770 and is apparently flying to Barcelona.

According to a PIA spokesperson, the flight to Barcelona took off on Sunday and the aircraft developed a fault after it landed in Paris which could not be removed due to the unavailability of engineers and spare parts.

The passengers en route Barcelona had to stay the night in Paris and those who were travelling on the same flight back to Islamabad were also delayed.

The spokesperson said PIA decided to send a team of engineers and equipment on board its London-bound flight PK-785 by re-routing it via Paris.He said the re-routed flight was ready for takeoff at 1pm but could not set off on time due to the closure of the runway at Benazir Bhutto International Airport by the Civil Aviation Authority for cleaning between 1pm and 3pm.

The spokesperson said all passengers on PK-785 were disembarked and moved to the passengers lounge till the runway was cleaned and flight operations were started. The flight took off at 3:30pm.

The spokesperson said the runway was closed so rubber deposit can be removed from it which he said was routine practice in the summers.

AP-BID landed at Islamabad Airport at 11:02 PM as flight PK-770 from Paris via Barcelona with a delay of nearly thirty-six hours.

PK-770 was scheduled to land at Islamabad Airport at 11:10 AM on June 5.

rubber deposit removal is always notamised.. so they could have anticipated it and tried to get it departed before the runway closure time.. any other airline would have done that, but again its PIA.. every flight is first flight for them!

On June 7, AP-BID departed from Islamabad at 12:46 AM as flight PK-8319 to Karachi where it landed at 2:23 AM. Was it a ferry flight?
