Three Afghan women held for travelling on fake documents

ISLAMABAD:
Three Afghan women were arrested for attempting to illegally board a London-bound flight of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Monday morning.

Officials of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) said the three Afghan women — holding genuine Afghan passports — had obtained their boarding passes for a PIA flight to Kabul.

Once the ladies reached the departure lounge after passing through immigration, they were provided fake British passports and boarding passes for PIA’s London-bound flight that was taking off at the same time.

Before the ladies could board the plane, however, FIA officials arrested them along with some unidentified PIA officials who allegedly provided them with the boarding passes for the London-bound flight. The passengers' passports — both fake and originals — were also confiscated.

FIA officials said all three women are in custody and further investigations are under way to arrest all those involved in the scam.

Seems the three women had plan to board London-bound flight PK-785 with boarding cards issued to them for Kabul-bound flight PK-249.

On May 28:

PIA flight PK-249 to Kabul departed from Islamabad at 12:29 PM. The flight's scheduled departure time was 10:45 AM.

PIA flight PK-785 to London-Heathrow departed from Islamabad at 2:48 PM. The flight's scheduled departure time was 11:45 AM.

Rightly said Tailwind, and they want protection from competition so that they can keep abusing "option less" passengers.

Paid twenty thousand US dollars per person in Kabul.

PIA Task Force insisted on issuing boarding passes to the women.

British passports were used for the three Afghan women.

Maybe stolen British passports used?

This will continue to happen unless all the Quota system products are fired gradually and new employees hired on merit. These people who come on qouta basis and inducted by their siyasi fathers are dishonest of highest calibre.
RIP Professionalism.

Pakistan Arrests Afghan Women Traveling on Fake Passports

May 29, 2017 11:03 AM

Ayaz Gul

ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN —
Immigration authorities in Pakistan have arrested three Afghan women before they were boarded a flight to London using fake British passports.

Officials told VOA two employees of the state-run Pakistan International Airline have also been arrested for assisting the Afghan nationals at the Islamabad airport to fraudulently undertake the journey. The men, they said, are suspected of having links to a “major human trafficking network.”

The women have told investigators they had paid “$20,000 per person to human smugglers in Kabul” and arrived in Islamabad on a PIA flight a day before airport immigration officials intercepted and stopped them late Sunday, officials said.

The detainees are said to have revealed a British national and a Pakistani citizen, both at large, played a key role in helping them obtain British passports.

Human smugglers are operating in Pakistan allegedly with the help of influential political figures. They are involved in trafficking Pakistanis in search of better job opportunities and Afghans who want to flee years of conflict in their country, to European destinations.

Pakistan’s beleaguered national carrier is already under investigation after heroin was found on two of its London-bound passenger aircraft earlier this month.

British Border Force officials impounded a PIA flight from Islamabad on May 15, apparently on a tip-off from Pakistani counterparts and found narcotics hidden in parts of the plane. A week later, counter-narcotics authorities at the Islamabad airport seized more than 20 kilograms of heroin from another Heathrow-bound PIA flight.

Three Afghan women held with fake UK passports

By Mohammad Asghar

5/30/2017

RAWALPINDI:
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested two PIA ground staff members handling the London-bound flight PK-785 and detained two senior officials of the immigration department at Benazir Bhutto International Airport (BBIA) after the British border police informed Pakistani authorities about three Afghan national women travelling on fake British passports from Islamabad.

Israr Ahmed, who is associated with the PIA task force, and Naeem Malik, responsible for issuing boarding cards to passengers, were taken into custody by the FIA while two officials of the agency`s immigration department were also detained for investigation though they have not been booked yet.

The officials were detained after three British passports and boarding cards stamped by the FIA immigration were found in a dustbin in the international departure lounge.

The three Afghan women had paid $20,000 each to a jeweller cum travel agent in Kabul for travelling to the UK on British passports which were already blacklisted.

The women had come to the passenger lounge at the BBIA and got three boarding cards for PK-249 for Kabul but were later given boarding cards for PK-786 allegedly by PIA officer Israr Ahmed.

According to a source, the three women were checked in by the PIA even though they were informed by British authorities that they were travelling to London on blacklisted passports.

Announcements were made for the women to contact immigration as they waited for their flight to London but the women did not approach immigration.

The three passports and immigration cards were later found from a dustbin by a sweeper who handed them over to FIA officials.

The women denied they were travelling to London and that their destination was Kabul. They were taken into custody by the FIA and shifted to the passport cell.

In its report, the PIA said: `Three women, Merwah Rhes, Hussain Amjed and Anis Sara booked on PK-785 May 28, 2017. Checked in by Mr Malik Naeem Akram c/o Mr Israr Ahmed, PIA task force in-charge and boarding card handed over to him as the passengers were his guests as per Mr Israr`s statement`.

The report said an email had been received from Karachi regarding the offloading of these passengers after being intimated by the British police.

After the discovery of the passports and boarding passes, the report said, the three passengers were found in the departure lounge holding Afghan passports without boarding cards.

The passengers were handed over to the FIA for further investigation.

According to a source, PIA flight PK-785 was not given clearance for take-off till the passports and boarding cards were not found.

Director FIA Islamabad Mazharul Haq Kakakhel confirmed that two PIA officials were arrested and two FIA officials were detained for questioning after three Afghan women attempted to board the London bound flight on fake passports.

`The FIA immigration officials are under investigation and they will be treated accordingly if found guilty,` he said.

He said the mastermind behind the operation and the manager of the gang of human smugglers had managed to travel on PK-786 and that the FIA had launched raids to arrest other members of the gang which operated from Afghanistan and Peshawar.

If we fly through Sialkot International, we will notice that from a Custom to a Fia official, almost everyone is assisting someone and I not sure whether its a general legal assistance or something else.

Few of those phone conversations I heard in my previous trips !

"O sir apka banda agaya he, me clear kerva dta hooo koi masla nhi"

"Tawa banda mere tk ni pohancha hun tk. Me falani jaga duty ker rwa waa"
