Maybe another aircraft for PIA Premier service?

Or a formality to convert SriLankan Airlines Airbus A330-300 (4R-ALN) currently on wet lease for PIA Premier service into a dry leased aircraft?

Or aircraft to replace wet leased SriLankan A330?

I read in a article where Sri Lankan is claiming $15 million in losses for not taking the delivery of 2 wet leased A330s. Looks like PIA wants to cancel deal with Sri Lankan.

It would be unwise to retain the A330. You will have to train crew, maintenance staff for this new type. Better get a 777-200ER in its place.

PIA had the choice of getting b772 for very cheap but they went for SL offer.

By now it would have all 777 instead of 1 333. Also yes they had poor business seats, but by now all would be fitted with lie flat seats etc in PIA colors.

PIA has no roadmap. One morning they wake up and decide to go for something and next day regret it, then repeat it again the following day.

To abbas, are they doing this maybe to help ease the b777 that will get getting wifi, business and economy seats upgrades? Since one or two planes will be out of service.

Because PIA predicted it will have 3 a333 which can help ease off b772 routes. But now negotiations are going nowhere, hence there is "immediate" need of 1 aircraft. If PIA knew it all before, they would've floated tender much earlier.

Whats wrong wit PIA?????????

Don't they do their homework before inducting or planing a fleet???

They inducted a Sri Lankan A330-300 with plans to add a total of three, launch the Premier Service then with a couple of months abandon it.

Dont they know if the project will be a failure or a success when they are making the plans.

Seems like this airline is working on monthly basis or maybe even weekly basis.

The A310 fleet was suppose to go after Hajj and PIA should have had three or four wide bodies ready by November to replace the four A310s not running around like a chicken without a head for wet leased 737-800s.

The people running PIA dont even know ABC of aviation and the CEO doesnt seem to have powers to act independently.
Those suggesting eco seats to be installed in 320s. Well as you know these planes came with 180 seats, but our beloved Govt ministers dont like to mix with common people on flights so they got 8 biz seats installed. Unless PIA is privatized I dont have much high hopes for this airline.

PIA is seeking delivery of this aircraft preferably in February. The airline also indicated plan to start flights between Karachi and New York via Leipzig Halle Airport in February.

Maybe this wet leased wide body aircraft to perform PIA Premier flights between Pakistan and New York via Leipzig Halle Airport.

SriLankan Airbus A330-300 registration 4R-ALN is currently on wet lease to PIA for PIA Premier service.

Does it mean now Turkish Airlines Airbus A330-300 will replace SriLankan Airbus A330-300 for PIA Premier service? Or both SriLankan Airlines and Turkish Airlines to perform PIA Premier service flights?

Maybe lease term of SriLankan A330 with PIA is ending in February? The SriLankan A330 joined PIA in August 2016 probably on six month lease term.

Quoted below is news report about wet lease term of SriLankan Airlines Airbus A330-300 (4R-ALN) expiring on February 9.

Apparently 4R-ALN lease term is not extended/renewed because it is beaten by Airbus A330-300 (TC-JOM) offered at lower lease rate/cost by Turkish Airlines.

Now it's becoming clear that Turkish Airlines A330 will take place of SriLankan Airlines A330 for performing PIA Premier flights.
PIA cannot obtain aircraft on wet-lease beyond 6 months: spokesman

ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Wednesday said as per National Aviation Policy an aircraft could not be wet-leased by airlines for more than six months.

The PIA’s agreement with Sri Lankan airlines for wet lease of an Airbus A330 was expiring on February 9, PIA spokesman Danyal Gillani explained in response to media quarries.

Following Public Procurement Regulatory Authority rules, the PIA had already short-listed the aircraft offered against a recent tender for wet lease which was planned to be inducted in the later part of current month after completion of regulatory formalities, he said.

Till the arrival of short-listed aircraft, the PIA’s flights to London would be operated by Boeing 777 aircraft. –APP

According to report in February 21 edition of English daily 'Business Recorder', PIA officials will visit Turkish Airlines head office in Istanbul in a week or so to sign agreement for wet lease of the aircraft.

Turkish Airlines offered Airbus A330-300 at US$ 6,000/- per hour (for guaranteed hours).

SriLankan Airlines offered Airbus A330-300 at US$ 8,100/- per hour (for guaranteed hours).

Lease rate for Turkish Airlines aircraft was 25 percent less than SriLankan Airlines aircraft.

So who made $5 million profit wet leasing this expensive plane from Sri Lankan Airlines.

I am sure who ever agreed to this price made a nice FAT KICKBACK.

On February 21, Turkish Airlines Airbus A330-302 registration TC-JOM was ferried as flight TK-6940 from Istanbul Ataturk International Airport to Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport.

https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/tc-jom

Aircraft maybe to be prepared for delivery to PIA and to be painted in PIA Premier livery at Sabiha Gokcen International Airport?
