Engine Problem Delays Departure of PIA ATR Flight PK-654

According to City42 news channel, departure of PIA flight PK-654 from Lahore to Islamabad is delayed due to some problem in engine number one of ATR 72-500 registration AP-BKV. The flight was scheduled to depart from Lahore at 10:00 PM.

Passengers have been off-loaded from the aircraft and moved to lounge.

PIA engineering team working to remove fault from the engine.

PK-654 now expected to depart from Lahore at 3:00 AM with a delay of five hours, according to Lahore Airport website.

PIA ATR 42-500 registration AP-BHM departed from Lahore at 4:11 AM as flight PK-654 to Islamabad with a delay of over six hours.

AP-BHM probably had arrived in Lahore as flight PK-684 from Multan at 9:27 PM on December 30.

Meanwhile, PIA ATR 72-500 registration AP-BKV departed from Lahore at 8:19 AM as flight PK-650 to Islamabad.

AP-BKV wasn't supposed to fly this route. ISB-LHE-MUX-LHE-ISB is the total flight series so this was planned to be flown by AP-BHM. Meanwhile there was an alteration in a Sukkur bound flight PK-590 so that an ATR could finally be positioned at Lahore. PK-650 is the first flight from a Lahore based ATR ever since the groundings.

too many engine issues arising in last few weeks/days on multiple PIA aircrafts, and not just the ATRs.

This is indeed alarming. Perhaps we need to send these airplanes overseas for maintenance?
