DG CAA Orders Grounding of PIA ATR Fleet

According to DAWN News channel, DG CAA has ordered grounding of PIA ATR fleet.

Finally some relief. A great news.

This is welcome step. I know this will bring havoc for Airline schedule but PIA ATR fleet needs to be reevaluated, All fixes needs to verify and have to procure parts from OEM, After complete verification for the Maintenance that have been done in Past, then only it should allow to operate again.

According to Pakistan CAA statement on Dunya News:

* CAA ordered grounding of PIA ATR fleet after the incident today in which engine of an ATR of the airline caught fire at Multan Airport.

* PIA ATR fleet will be allowed to operate flights only after the issuance of maintenance clearance report for each aircraft.

* PIA operates around 40 flights daily with ATR aircraft.

Good Step at last . If PIA wants to continue ATR operation, think they should hire a good MRO for ATRs it may any EASA approved and bleave will be under control from TLB ( technical loog book ) report fo rectifications everything , routine and non routine jobs , even to purchase of spare parts . We all know that ATRs are cheepest in turboprop calass . PIA got ATRs to save money and operation cost . Even to save mony they had other options too, like Embraer 145 or CRJ 200 . Cheep and best option for these kinds of domestic operation in Pakistan , even suitable than ATRs for northern aereas .

According to PIA sposkesperson statement on PTV News:

All 10 ATR aircraft in PIA fleet to undergo shakedown test. The aircraft will remain grounded till the completion of tests/checks.

PIA ATR operations will resume after getting clearance from CAA.

PIA apologises for inconviences faced by passengers due to grounding of these aircraft.

Sir, Any Idea what will be the complete inspection duration for these 10 Aircrafts? And Is there any Aircraft in the world which is being used for such small Airports commercially?

Like suppose: If PIA want to replace ATR's then what will be the choice of Aircraft Type?

ATRs are used by various leading airlines of the world in different kinds of weather conditions and terrain including mountainous regions.

Every old or new aircraft needs good quality maintenance and well-maintained ATRs I believe are capable of performing flights safely in Pakistan.

PIA ATRs are still many years away from the age of retirement. The oldest ATR in PIA fleet is ten years old which is not too much old age for this aircraft type especially if it's properly maintained.

last 10 years ago EU banned PIA all aircraft to EU except 777 but Pak DG CAA ordered all ATR ground. PIA might get loss money again. Passengers complaint face problem without flight ATR. Can PIA hire lease rent use PAF C130 to Chitral & Gigit & other for temporary ?

Let PK661 FDR be decoded & all the parameters be analyzed, on a Presumption CAA Orders ATR Fleet to be Grounded...
Multan Incident last night (If) was to happen in normal circumstances, and not after AP-BHO Incident, rest of the ATR Fleet would have had been still Flying & making revenue for PIA...
It's just Media Hype, & Media knows nothing about aviation yet they create an Optics where People start to Believe even do most of the Information doesn't make sense..
