Re: PIA plan new routes and codeshares
German authorities have given PIA 5th freedom rights from LEJ to JFK. DHL have huge movement at LEJ so PIA can be getting cargo too. Also, there is no night time curfew on this Airport so this will also help in some cases.
Fortune favours brave.

Isn't Westjet a low cost carrier? Will it work out that PIA pays the premium for things like food and baggage to match their own flight?

Re: PIA plan new routes and codeshares
Pre-arrival US Immigration must be done in Pakistan not Europe. It is ridiculous to fly a person all the way outside of Pakistan and US immigration turndown the person. It is such a waste of time and money of everyone.
Second, Toronto flights later must be increased as Hilderbrand said. If Emirates and Etihad can pack their planes and many are Pakistani's after Indians. No reason PIA cannot serve more Pakistani's.

Re: PIA plan new routes and codeshares
PIA's CEO Bernd Hildebrand revealed in an Interview with ATW that they are going to start Flight operations from/to LEJ from Jan 2017 3 times a week with an A330 (most probably another SriLankan one) if all necessary approvals are given.
By the Way Hildebrand himself knows LEJ very well as he was located there as Station Manager for Lufthansa at Leipzig Airport.

Source: http://atwonline.com/airframes/ceo-paki ... order-787sPIA is considering using a third A330 to operate a 3X-weekly service to New York-JFK via Leipzig/Halle airport, Germany, instead of the current Manchester, UK.
“Manchester is a very expensive airport. Leipzig would give us the possibility of a much-needed comeback in Germany,” he said. The new route could be launched from Jan. 1, 2017, contingent on approval. PIA is considering hiring flight attendants in Germany.
Hildenbrand said airlines from Pakistan are not allowed to operate nonstop services to the US. US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has implemented security measures at certain overseas airports, focusing especially on the safety of Pakistan’s airports.
“That means we have to land in another country on the way to the US, and do all safety and security checks again—for passengers and cargo.”

I dont think it is a good idea replacing 77L with 333 on JFK route. PIA flies non-stop on the way back from JFK which they wouldn't be able to do using A330s.
May be it is time to update cabins of both 77L, instead of downgrading the capacity.

I also thought the same when I read that. Only reasonable point would be that they are going to stop in LEJ on both ways to and from JFK but that would remove the advantage of a Non Stop Flight (at least from JFK to PK) but According to the Interview Hildebrand mentioned a Comeback to Germany which would require not only Flights from PK to Germany but also in the other direction.uzkt01 wrote:I dont think it is a good idea replacing 77L with 333 on JFK route. But it is unlikely that USA will allow PIA to carry passengers from USA to Germany.

176 passengers/flight is not a good number when you are operating a B777 on a route. Perhaps a 788 or 332 would be more economical.

A310 was used to Barcelona, so not bad.
PIA carried passengers between USA and Germany till the 1990s.
