It'll a wise move at last.
Perfect replacement for b734. I think all domestic should be done by a319. Instead of having 2 b777 flights daily between routes or 4 a320, there should be 6 a319 flying at different times, so passengers can fly multiple times during the day instead of limited one.
Here Air Canada does a319 operation for couple of hour of flights instead of using say b777/a330/b787

Shaheen Air International (NL, Karachi Int'l) is planning to lease seven A319-100s from AerCap with the aircraft set to undergo modifications with Airbus Upgrade Services.
Aside from several cosmetic changes, the aircraft will be reconfigured with 150 seats as well as a suite of systems and avionics upgrades (including ‘ADS-B Out’) to meet forthcoming Air Traffic Management (ATM) regulations. They will also feature an increased maximum take-off weight capability of 75.5 tonnes to suit forthcoming operations.
The embodiments are scheduled from the fourth quarter of 2016.
Shaheen Air operates eight A320-200s, four A330-200s, three A330-300s, and eight B737-400s all of which are leased from a variety of firms which, aside from AerCap, include AAR Aircraft Sales & Leasing, Aergo Capital, Alterna Aviation, and Whitney Leasing.

They're trying to chew bigger than the bite. I get its too much excitement "hey we getting big new planes, why don't we serve this, that and every route!!"Sherry3002 wrote:Yet a reputation that's pretty horrible compared to PIA.owais usmani wrote:Well if things keep on going this way soon Shaheen will have a fleet larger than PIA
That's what happens when it's a personal airline vs a public airline. In public airline you've to answer to people and risk losing your job with bad decision.

AerCap A319s to be upgraded for Shaheen operations
DATE: JULY 12, 2016
Aercap and Airbus Upgrade Services have agreed a deal to facilitate the transition of seven leased A319s for operations with Shaheen airlines based in Karachi, Pakistan. The modifications package from Airbus includes a newly branded interior, the integration of new seats in a 150 passenger layout (taking benefits of the recent extended seating capacity certification), a suite of systems and avionics upgrades (including ‘ADS-B Out’) to meet forthcoming Air Traffic Management (ATM) regulations, an increased take-off weight capability of 75.5 tonnes to suit forthcoming operations and new Shaheen livery.
The embodiments are scheduled from the fourth quarter of 2016. Thanks to the deal, Shaheen will be able to significantly grow its fleet and operations in order to explore new markets. This deal also reinforces Services by Airbus’ integrator role for aircraft transition services with leasing companies. These principally cover modification services including engineering, certification, parts, logistics management and even livery changes – with the solutions being certified worldwide.

Re: Shaheen going for A319?
But will these A319s not just to replace the ageing Boeing 737 aircraft so no real net grown.
Off topic but re their A330 there seems to be a serious under utilisation issue with those aircrafts. Reminds me of Airblue when they had their A340 and the two aircrafts were used alternatively and spending a lot of time on the ground which only leads to losses.

It'll save them a lot of money flying a319 instead of b734. This can be better invested on other planes. Also the plane will be newer, so passengers will enjoy it. Moreover, less chance of issues arising close to departure.
Of course shaheen can use the old b734 to fly to places like skardu, Islamabad-Lahore or other short routes.
