Re: Serene Air
I think it'd be better if they were to use a320s.
Then pilots from shaheen, airblue, PIA could apply for positions. Moreover, in the event of strike or any emergency, they could rent pilots from these airlines. Plus, with many pilots training for a320s, there will be more supply of them than b738 pilots, hence a320 pilot being cheaper.
Finally, when in few years of time they decide to add wide bodies, they can do away with a330 and make transition easy, as shaheen is doing. Or A321 with airblue.
But since they've b738, their next option is b787, which are expensive.

Re: Serene Air
They are going to right way Maintenance cost of 737-NG is less than A320 . There are too many PIA , shaheen, Indus, 737 pilots and other crew witch need just 2 week DIFFERENCES TRAINING and they are ready to work. And they will not go to anywhere , cause only tow airlines are goin to operate B-737-800. About wide body want to say even in big gulf airlines have B-777 as a major wide body aircraft not A330 . You are writing 787 here as next option . did you know about the price and setup for it ? ))))))) feeling you are discussing about some toys here ))uzairali wrote:I think it'd be better if they were to use a320s.

from b738 to b777 is a HUGE jump (180 to 350~). Even Shaheen didn't do it (despite employing b734 in the past). Instead they have a332, around 240 seats.
If maintenance cost is low I don't know why all major airlines in pakistan going airbus for narrow bodies.

Dear Uzair , the big problem in Pakistan is this Stupid NEW AVIATION POLICY , according to Policy Aircraft should be less tahn 12 years old. And problem with Boeing 737-NG is availability in markeet . Even Boeing is making ~45 B-737-NG aircrfats a month , cannot cover the markket demand and old less than 12 years not easily available as compair to A320 . Just goole it you can find the answeruzairali wrote:^

Are you saying that b738 is newer than a320 and hence less likely to find? Because there are more a320 series deliveries in the past 12 years than 738, which certainly means it's a better aircraft.
While that's another debate on whether boeing or airbus is a better aircraft, my point was, it'd be better for Serne air to employ a320 aircrafts as rest of Pakistan is doing. In addition, when serne air would like to expand, it can lease a330 series, which is cheaper than b777 series and that it can use to fly to routes such as the ME. Even Shaheen, biggest pakistan private airlines, cannot afford b777 and does not see it as viable due to its size.
I'm just speaking about long term into how serne can save money and short term how there are plenty of a320 pilots already around (how many pilots in pakistan seeking job have flown b737NG over 5000 hours?), engineers etc. It'd only make sense for serene air to go for b738 if it were to acquire large numbers of it (10-20).

Re: Serene Air
Just trying to explane that Markeet demand of B-737NG is more than A320 even production of ~47 a monthe cannot fulfil it. Even hard to find 10 years old . A320 is available easly . It depends upon production witch boeing cannot .uzairali wrote:^

Re: Serene Air
^ I think that's wrong information.
It's comparing entire of 737 to a single a320, which does 150-180 seats.
It is completely ignoring a318 that offers about or less than b737-700 and a321 that offers more seats than b739.

Re: Serene Air
let me assume if these figures are correct then B737 in service since 1967 and is in operation with 306 airlines whereas A320 in service since 1987 and is in operation with 258 airlines, so the winner is Airbus rather BoeingRana wrote:
