According to PTV News, in a meeting today with aviation and finance ministry officials Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that:

* Pakistan Airways should be our identity in the world.

* Pakistan Airways should be world-class airline meeting international standards.

* Pakistan Airways' passengers should get best possible modern services according to international standards.

* Pakistan Airways crew/employees should get best possible training according to international standards.

* Pakistan Airways should have lower number of employees with best abilities and performance.

* Pakistan Airways should set new standards.

The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Secretary Aviation Division & Chairman PIA Irfan Elahi, PIA Chief Operating Officer Bernd Hilderbrand and others.

PM says new airline must set high service standards

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday called for the proposed new airline Pakistan Airways to set high standards of service.

He was charring a meeting on the aviation affairs at the Prime Minister’s House on Thursday. The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Aviation Secretary Irfan Elahi and other senior officials of the government.

The participants of the meeting gave a comprehensive presentation about steps being taken for creating a premier airline that matches the past image of the national flag carrier internationally. The meeting reviewed progress on bringing the premier airline Pakistan Airways at par with international airlines, a press release issued by the PM’s Media Office here said.

The prime minister directed the authorities concerned that the crew and staff of Pakistan Airways should be trained at the best institutions and state-of-the-art services for passengers, not less than any international standards, must be ensured. Except core business, rest of the services should be outsourced to meet the professional standards, he added. Nawaz stressed that the airline should set high service standards.

There should be lean management structure for optimising the airline’s efficiency and service delivery, and the emoluments structure should commensurate with the quality of human resource, the prime minister emphasised.
