Is the old terminal still around ? And if it is what is it used for now ?

^ I think the old terminal is now used by the military.

As previously other brothers said CAA should prepare 36L/18R also as second main rwy but during this closure I wonder if AC cross taxi way Charli is it possible for B777 - A333 to make 180 degree turn at end of 18R ??

I have noticed that some small extensions left from rwys for future at LHE and ISB main rwys they can use them to link it to aprons.

can the two runways be used at the same time? Or is it useless runway/waste of money (Except rare emergency) like Islamabad new airport?

^ Only one runway can be used for an aircraft landing/takeoff at a time, as far as I know. Anyway, I don't think current air traffic at Lahore Airport requires simultaneous runway operations like we see at some other very busy airports of the world.

To keep flight operations open at Lahore Airport, the secondary runway has proven its usefulness whenever primary runway becames unavailable for some reason. So, it's not a waste of money.

BTW, secondary runway is used not only in emergency situations. It's usually kept available for flight operations along with primary runway.

Secondary runway is older than primary runway and Pakistan CAA deserves credit for maintaining two runways of Lahore Airport.

^ The current secondary runway was built in late 1950s/early 1960s when Lahore Airport was moved here in Lahore Cantonment in 1961 from Walton for jet operations.

The current primary runway was built in 1980s for Boeing 747 operations that started in 1989.

Current terminal of Lahore Airport was opened in 2003.

for parallel operations, a minimum 750 ft separation is required between both parallel runways whereas in case of Lahore/Karachi or new Islamabad, it is less than 750 ft

Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) tender notice in today's (March 13) newspaper for the replacement of apron slabs near bay number 3 and 9 and rehabilitation of slab joints at taxiways "Q" & "S" AT Allama Iqbal International Air Port (AIIAP) - Lahore.
