Notice Issued to Thai Airways for Carrying Passenger Without Valid Travel Documents

Post by Abbas Ali »

According to PTV News, interior minister has taken notice of the incident in which a male passenger escorted by Australian police arrived at Karachi Airport aboard Thai Airways flight. The passenger who did not have valid Pakistan visa & permission/authorisation from interior ministry has been sent back with Australian police on the same aircraft.

The passenger after separation/divorce from his Australian wife was deported to Pakistan.

Notice has been issued to Thai Airways for bringing passenger to Pakistan without valid travel documents.

This doesnt seem correct. If the passenger was a Pak National and thus was being deported back to Pakistan following the divorce from his Aust wife, what paper work is needed?

My understanding is that a deportation means the person is sent back to their country of origin as he is not legitimately allowed to remain in Aust. In this case he appears to be a Pak National - so what documents were needed / missing. Aust Federal Police would not send a non-Pak back to Pakistan.

The thing is, he need to prove that he is Pakistani even if he is really from Pakistan. Meaning he should be having valid Pakistani passport **or** if he is dual national then he should be having Pakistani visa on Foreign Passport or NICOP Card.

And seems to me he is not possessing any of these documents as well.

Seems, the passenger wasn't a Pakistani national otherwise why would have been deported back

Probably after getting Australian nationality, he did not get his Pakistani passport and ID card renewed and maybe arrived on Australian passport without valid Pakistani visa.

I think this is a brave step taken by Interior ministry and must be appreciated. Recently a chartered plane from Greece was handled in a similar way and only few who have their Pakistani NICs were allowed to enter Pakistan.

During 1990 to till recent years millions of Afghanis, Nepalese , Bangladeshi, Uzbek, Tajik, Irani, men women and children entered Pakistan and in Pakistan they were able to easily get Pakistani identity cards and Passports from local government document issuing offices. After getting these Pakistani documents they used Quetta Noshkey Naukundi and Tuftan routes to exit Pakistan , entering Iran to Istanbul Turkey , from Turkey many went to Spain Greece and to other European Japan Thailand and Malasyia and other Far East countries identifying them self as citizen of Pakistan .

After entering the countries of there choice they would destroy or burn Pakistani passport and keep only the immigration entry exit paper and using that paper as only proof of identification . That person may be one of that.

If any body wants to witness themselves that how Pakistani identity cards and passports are abused by non Pakistani go to Quetta Taftan Iran border , one will see about 150 non Pakistani carrying Pakistani documents cross into Iran in three hours, no matter what interior ministry claims Pak documents are issued to non Pakistani at full scale , some one some where , some high rank officials are involved in this crime.

But if he is an Aust Citizen, there is no need to be deported due to a divorce - the only circumstance is if he was a Temp Resident and the divorce meant he was no longer eligible for Citizenship and thus was deported. I think the media has reported this story incorrectly...
