Just read on one of the new channels that a letter signed by the PM authorizing hiring of pilots on contract till the age of 65 has been received through aviation division by PIA management.

And I am sure you all know who will be among the first ones to get rehired by PIA management.
I feel sorry for all the people who are striving hard and spending millions on getting CPL from different flying clubs. Unfortunately they have no future in my opinion.

Hope the pilot contract agreement draft prepared by PIA directors includes clause(s) against strike actions and union activities.

I'm totally being an idiot here but how does PALPA suggest we hire pilots? Like what other way apart from contracts?

Former Managing Director PIA and Boeing 777 commander Capt. Aijaz Haroon is also expected to re-join PIA as contracted pilot, according to a news channel.

Quite right; PIA has been hiring pilots on contract since ages but they were all inducted as cadet pilots starting at the junior most first officer level. This letter paves the way for lateral entry of pilots on all aircraft as Captains/First officers directly without following seniority.I'm totally being an idiot here but how does PALPA suggest we hire pilots? That is probably what is not acceptable to PALPA.

I think that is great news.
Most of them are trained captains with decades of flying experience.
you cannot compare them to rookies being hired with 250 hours.
PIA needs to retain these pilots during the time it takes to retrain their younger pilots to take the position of these retiring captains.

Can you just explain how do you intend to hire new cadets who are spending millions on doing flying when there won't be any vaccum created for their hiring ? Already tens of cadets are awaiting there joining in PIA. And hiring these captains will definitely halt the promotions of the deserving captains and first officers. New talent should be given chance.Amaad Lone wrote:I think that is great news.

yes current young captains should be given a promotion, but the PIA fleet is expanding once again and I am sure they will only keep the older captains for as long as they need them. The chuk them, that is the policy of our beloved country.

Well there you do have a valid point. But still new cadets should be hired and given chance. If this policy is followed and new cadets are not hired then I guess there is no point of spending millions on their CPL.
