PIA Fires Two Cabin Crew Members Involved in Smuggling Stolen Mobile Phones

According to news reports, PIA has sacked two cabin crew members involved in smuggling of stolen mobile phones from UK.

The two cabin crew members (a male and a female) of airline's Islamabad-bound flight PK-786 were held at London-Heathrow Airport after stolen mobile phones were recovered from their baggage.

Scotland Yard confirmed to Geo News that two cabin crew members of PIA were arrested in the departure lounge of Terminal 3 of Heathrow airport on Monday 12 October. "A 38-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods. They were taken to a west London police station and have since been bailed to a date in late November."

PIA Boeing 777-240ER registration AP-BGL performed flight PK-786 from London to Islamabad on October 12.

Although AP-BGL had landed in London very much on time as flight PK-785 from Islamabad but it departed from London as flight PK-786 to Islamabad with a delay of about one hour & thirty minutes probably due to detention of the two cabin crew members.

In other incidents PIA cabin crew members were found transporting large quantity of bridal dresses, naswar, cigarettes etc. for commercial purpose and substantial quantity of foreign currency (money laundering?).

According to news reports, the two crew members released on bail have arrived in Lahore from London on PIA flight PK-758. From Lahore they will travel to Islamabad.

The crew members in their statement to London police said that they had purchased mobile phones from Pakistan and did not know that these were stolen sets.

i want to know information which crew caught at departure X-ray or check in counter? which bag checked or hand bag? I know only hand bag some passengers & crew caught handbag during x-ray but if checked bag then after check in counter bag x-ray catch passenger or crew at gate? or maybe perhaps excess weight handbag?

A news channel was reporting that entire crew of PK-786 was undergoing some sort of extra checking by British authorities when they caught these two cabin crew members.
