PK711-PK712
Shocked to see that PK711 lands in New York at 4:55pm and is parked at gate nearly for 4:10 hrs. Its schedule departing time is 9:10pm. During all of this time, there must be airport and other charges being applied on airline which surely becomes financial burden on PIA. I think that this should be highlighted to the concerned authorities.

I've seen photos of aircraft of various airlines towed and parked on remote bays for hours at major foreign airports before starting their long haul journey back to home countries.

^ I don't think PIA is wasting time or money in this case. The airline is following standard procedures like other international airlines for long haul flights.
Aircraft performing long haul flights take longer turn around time due to reasons like longer time taken for cleaning/servicing and probably some necessary aircraft inspections by engineering personnel. Apparently due to such reasons long haul flights aircraft, after disembarkation of passengers/crew, are moved to remote parking bays to keep airport terminal parking bays available for next number of arriving flights.
The PIA Boeing 777 has to be well-prepared before performing non-stop flight from USA or Canada to Pakistan.

Re: PK711-PK712
Guys FYI
At LHR, JFK, MAN there are standard charge for upto 5 Hrs , if you parked for 1 or 2 or 4.5 hours it is flat rate charges
so it is not big thing, yes if it is over 5 hours then extra rates comes in
Yes some airport stand allocation do ask airlines to tow aircraft from gate to hard stand depending ontime and how busy is airport
hope this clear the point

Yes, JFK is gate constrained Airport, specially at international terminal so it is normal practice to disembark passenger at gate, then tow the Aircraft to remote stand for next two to three hour and again bring back to gate for preparation of departureAer Pakistan wrote:Guys FYI
