PIA for its revival strategy requires a highly experienced, hands on, professional (ANY NATIONALITY) to be hired on contract as a full time Chief Operating Officer (COO) reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) / Chairman. The main purpose of the job is to revive PIA into a successful/profitable airline. The challenge for the incumbent would be to develop and lead a major Change Management Program which addresses PIA's financial, operational, commercial and cultural re-energisation including guiding and motivating its people to deliver their best performance, as a team, having a common goal of reshaping PIA's glorious future and striving to be competitive and efficient.
Responsibilities
COO will be responsible for managing the airline's day-to-day operations with focus on strategic, tactical and operations management, enabling safe and reliable operations of the airline. As such he/she will be accountable for the oversight and maintenance of flight operations, and for this role, he/she will need extensive operational experience to ensure that in-flight operations, safety/security, quality, maintenance, ground services, engineering, reservations and customer services, flight technical services, regulatory compliance etc. are run to the international standards. The job also encompasses continuous improvement of the total airline operations efficiency (in areas such as, revenue management, brand/sales management, product development, customer service delivery, scheduling, strategic alliance etc.) ensuring that it compares favourably to the best in the airline industry.
Education/Experience and Skill Sets
Master in business related field. Preference will be given to candidate with aeronautical engineering degree.
12-20 years' experience in aviation industry with strong marketing, network/fleet planning and financial acumen/experience. At least five years' experience in operational management and experience of working in an international airline with proven record. Besides planning, developing and implementing strategies for the management of relevant areas of operations, including systems he/she should be strong on people development, so as to meet agreed operations performance plans, within agreed budgets and timelines. Conversant with European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.
The successful candidate will also be expected to have excellent people management, communication skills, fluent in English, ability to lead change and a 'can do' attitude. Should be a strategic thinker/aptitude, with the ability to plan and implement strategy for the enhancement of the business, as well as to ensure the effective utilisation of the workforce, equipment and facilities. Lastly, should be diplomatic with cultural awareness/sensitivity.
NOTE: The selected candidates will be given employment on contract basis for a period of two years (extendable).
